OT.....Teenage Bi Polar disorder
I dont know anything about the Long Beach area. I just wanted to wish you the best. I know my mom went through hell with me until she learned to spot the signs of bad times and how best to help me through it. My mom would never seek any help because to her I never was Bipolar until she accepted it a couple years ago. I just had mood swings. I know it can be hard enough for me to handle so I dont know how to tell you to do it, just love her through it!!

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations.
I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty,
believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

I am so sorry to hear this, Linda...
I have been hospitalized a couple times due to the illness, but can tell you that it was the best thing for me, and hopefully will be for her.
I'm not in the Long Beach area so I don't know of any groups, but I will be praying for you and your daughter.
*hugs*

Thank you all for your support. I found a hospital...not to far from me that has an adolescent behavioral unit. If they have a bed, they will admit her tonight. I just have to hope she didn't take off after school. She was supposed to go to my brothers, but I don't know if she will at this point.
For those that offered to let me PM them, I will later. and Thank you.

Just wanted to send some bigg (((((((((((((Linda))))))))))))))!!! I hope by now you have found her and put her in a safe place. My heart goes out to you sweetie!!!
I have a 15 year old daughter who I suspect might be BiPolar and just started her on therapy. It's hard enough to deal with teenage daughters as it is, any added issues make it hard and heartbreaking!!!
Keep us posted and my prayers are with you!! God bless you sweetie!!! bigg huggs, Becky

Linda, I didn't read through all the replies but one wonderful organization to seek out is NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. There are chapters in many areas and are a great support. They might have a great deal of information about what is available in the Long Beach Area. You can check our local chapters through the national website, www.nami.org. Wishing both you and your daughter well. This problem can be controlled - just often a little more difficult in adolescents.
Take care,
Pam (kerbybird)

Linda, Have you found your daughter? My niece that I talked about earllier in this post used to run away all the time. My poor sister got to the point were she expected it. She has seemed to settle down now that the crazy making boyfriend has gone to prison. But the meltdowns still come wiith every cycle.
HUGS to you. I pray you have found her and she is safe.
