vsg kaiser
Hi Becka, Iam gonna ask for the VSG when I have my surgeon consult in Fremont. Yes, they are starting to do it in Fremont. Supposedly on "select" patinets. I guess I will find out just what a select patient is during the consult eh?
Rumor has it that So.San Fran and Richmond IS doing the VSG, but you WON'T hear about it during the orientation. You have to ask about it at your surgical consult.
Here is what is irritating...In 2 Kaiser locations in Los Angeles, patients are given the CHOICE! Grrrr...There are a few ladies on here who will prob. chime in on thier Kaiser experiences...

Now now Gael..."given the choice" is putting it ummm well. I was told ALL throughout my orientation and my class that the only surgery they did was the RnY. But I knew 2 girls who had the VSG and when I went to their surgeon we discussed why I wanted the VSG. They did "want" me to have the RnY but I was told they would do the VSG since I wanted it =)
It still remains that way...my friend was speaking up in her class all about the VSG and got several people interested. Their buttbrain teacher was like "no you can't have that" and "you'll not loose weight" and "you'll gain it back". Buttbrain

I just went to orientation in Fremont this pass Sunday, and he did mention VSG, and was very excited about it. Some asked if he would rather perfrom VSG or RNY and he said RNY. I think they will perform it but only on selected patients. I know for sure that if you wanted Lapband over RNY then they will go with your choice.
Okay, from what my fiance just told me the surgeon said that in order for them to perform VSG you have to fall in the category of super obese which is a BMI of 60 or 65, from what he can recall. But then again, they were going over so much so hopefully he didn't get it confused with another surgery.
