Happy but hurting,,,,I can't chug my water down and I'm thirsty.  I stayed in the hospital 1 night.  Had a lot of pain till today not too bad to deal with.  I've been walking and drinking as much as i can, sometimes it hurts if i drink too fast.  I think i am going through that what have i done stage... but i would not take anything back...it's just sad to say good-bye to your friend..FOOD whenever and how much whenever.  Boo hoo for me,,,but i'll get over it soon.  When It doesn't hurt anymore.  Thanks for listening.

You will learn in time that chugging water and fluids is no longer an option. We sip sip sip.
It get's better in time......just don't rush things......

Congratulations on your surgery!!! Honestly it does get better for sure! As far as the chugging and all that good stuff....it just takes time is all. I still after over 6 years get things feeling like OMG I cannot swallow or that I have an orange caught there....but it goes away. Just hang in there and follow your doctors protocal and find yourself a new friend...a good hobby like exercising or something...good luck! Thumbs Up

It does get better! Take a big mouthful of water and then swallow it in three or four parts. This is what I did in the beginning and it seemed to help. I still do it to this day... same with food... a big bite then chew chew chew then swallow in portions. Nothing I learned... just something I did and seemed to work for me.

Even yesterday I had some chicken from my RideShare lunch at work that was too dry and sure enough it came up. That awful tight burning feeling and rush to the ladies room. So, Kimmy got her Starbucks and all was good again.

Take it slowly...

Sugar Free Popsicle they saved my thrist. I was sooooo thirsty all the time and want to chug anything i could. I sucked on those babies and i felt good. They count as a liquid too. You can always suck on ice chips.

Just remember to sip sip.... Dont chug you will hurt yourself really bad.

I can't "chug" more than two mouthfuls, and I am 5 months out. sip from a shot glass for a while. The SF popcicles are right on target for thirst.

It will all get better soon. had you told me I would be 70 lbs thinner in 5 months, I would have told you that was an insane thought.

take your pain meds for rest. You are doing great! :)
