Hello Cali!

As some of you know I have taken on the challenge of doing my first marathon.  Yes, 26.2 miles.  I am currently 11 weeks post op and looking forward to completing the marathon.  Thanks to Scott B.I was introduced to APLA (AIDS Project Los Angeles) which helps prepare you for this amazing journey. This is such a worthy cause, and I would like to ask for your support. I have made a personal commitment to raise at least $1,600 by Friday, December 19, 2008 - and I hope to raise even more. Any contribution you can make would mean a great deal to me. Contributions are tax-deductible and will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of people living with AIDS. I am hoping that my online support system will help me on my journey. There is also a link in my signature.
Here is the link to my page: http://www.aidsmarathon.com/participant.aspx?runner=LA-2084& Year=2008&EventCode=LA09 Thanks! Lola

P.S.  If you can't donate ask me how you can help in other ways.
Also, please pass along the link to friends and family.  Thanks!

Joy,
Thank you for your words of encouragement.  And thank you for your support.  A little here and a little there goes a long way!  I will think of you and your friend when I feel like I can't do this.

Thanks again.

Hi Lola,
I love that you are doing this. I made a small donation to your cause in hopes that others will help you too. My sweet brother Jon died of AIDS in 1990 and going through his illness and death changed me forever. Good luck with your fundraising!

Julia,

Thank you for your kindness and support.  I will be sure to add your brother Jon's name to my page.  I appreciate your support and your story put tears in my eyes.  I am sorry for your loss.

Hi Lola, I just made a small donation to your page. I wi**** could be more. I lost a dear friend to AIDS in 1988. In the end, I was the only one that would visit him. His family would come to the hospital, but stand at the door. I was holding his hand when he died. His family gave me a $10,000.00 check to plan his funeral. He wanted to be cremated, so I had him cremated and had a small memorial for him and gave the rest to an AIDS charity (about $8000.00).  I wish you luck in your training and in the upcoming marathon. =)

Kat,
Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you!  Your story was sad and heart warming at the same time.  If you don't mind I would like to know if I could put your friends name on my page to honor him.  Thank you again!
