Looking for friends

I am just starting out. I have my first appointments next week for the lap band. I wanted to try to find some people who are near the beginning so we can go though this together. I would love to hear from others as well. I would could use all of the friends and advice I can get.

Well, I didn't have lap band. But there are a few on this board that has lapband. There is also a lapband board you can check there.

No lap band here either, but wanted to say  and welcome to OH and the Cali board!!! You are going to love it here, it is a GREAT place for support, WLS education, and GREAT friends!!

Hey welcome to the Caliboards!!! Stick around here for some good advice and friendships that are formed. I wish you the best with you appointments next week. I am not banded either, but hey we are all seeking the same results...to get healthy by dumping the weight. I know there are several people on the CA boards who have been banded....keep reading and watching....but we all support each other no matter what type of surgery you have! Keep posting also so we can hear about your progress!

Joy I saw your post and was wondering how you are doing. 

It is getting closer to my surgery Oct 21. I start the 2 week diet on the 6th I am not looking foward to it but I will do it and stick to it. I am trying now to drink all that liquid so I can get used to it but I can not get it all in yet.

Hello, I was banded in 2003 but resently had the band removed and had the RNY. I am much happier with the RNY. I have lost more weigth this time then with the band. I have met other people that love the band. Some info make sure your insurance will pay for each band tighting (fill). Most do not and the fills can range in price from $250 to $450. An average person will have at lest 3 to 4 fills in the first year. Also if you get sick and the dr needs to remove any of the fills from the port the insurance will not pay eighter.  Please research all and ask lots of ? to the dr and your ins.... Good luck. Hey you!!  I am glad you found this forum and the lap band forum.  Check out some of my friends...especially Lynnie.  She is a VERY successful lapbander!!!  I am glad your mom is on board with this surgery now!!

I didn't have the lap band( I originally was going to), I had RNY...but I did have Dr. Oliak...and he is so awesome!!!!!!!!!! You are in great hands...I did my research for months prior to my surgery...and he is rated top 2 in California!
