OT where to eat in Reno?

Next week we are going to be 5 days in Reno, most of that time at the Peppermill.  During the day we are rock hounds and plan to take the 4 wheel drive out searching but at night we like the casino.  I am 6 weeks out from my RNY and have had nausea for the past couple of weeks and can't hold much down at all in the mornings and early afternoon.  By 2 or 3 I can eat a meal easily.

Question:  where do you think I can eat?  I remember the huge buffet at the Peppermill and a sports bar, neither of which seem like a good choice.  I do plan on taking yogurt and cottage cheese but can't image living for the whole time on those.  I am thinking soups or ....  I am cleared to eat anything nutritious except iceberg lettuce or watermelon, just 1/3 c per meal.  Those of you who go to Reno have any ideas?  Thanks a lot.  Helga

Sounds like a fun trip. Wish I was going to the Peppermill. There's the coffee shop, Biscotti's, The Steak House. Those are my fav's and have great food. Also Oceano's and The Romanza and The White Orchid. Hope this helps you. Have fun and win big.

Helga,
funny you should ask about Reno, I am here on business for a few days and this morning was easy I had an omlete from "pepees" down town, yummy but couldnt even eat half. Lunch shrimp appetizer at Blue Brothers Brewery, fantastic but only ate 1/3, so for dinner, everyone let me order because by then they all knew there would be plenty for all that I couldnt finish, we went to the Steakhouse at the Legacy, had a rib eye,  and veggies excellent, only ate 1/3rd again. But my coworkers are enjoying my leftovers. Have a GREAT time and remember there is healthy food everywhere here!! .....and I sure hope you bring some of that Nevada money back to California.good luck!!

Helga....take your yogurt and cottage cheese for back up...even protien drinks and bars. You can eat at the buffet...you just have to make the right choices. I go to the one in Palm Springs when my friend and I go to the casino. I always have the same thing....protien, veggie or salad. I do not care that I can not gorge myself or make it worth paying....usually I have enough points on my card to pay for at least some of it. Just have portable food that will not get spoiled when you are off road. If you can hardboil eggs and bring that would be a good idea too.

Have loads of fun!

With your nasuea and all I would make sure the doc clears you for doing this trip as during the day your not going to be in  town and not close to docs or hospitals, just in case as you are so early out of surgery.

Helga, take your restraurant card with you most places in Reno honor it, to include the Peppermill, they let me eat at the highest kid price. Also I have done many Buffet's you just have to make the choice of protien first then everything else. Have a great time I love fellow Rock Hounds.

Thank you all.  I am printing this out before we leave.  I feel beter knowing others have survived while making good food choices.  Thanks again.  Helga
