I am really upset.... for the last two days I have been really hungry.   Stomach growling and all.   I am sticking with the 1/4 cup at a time but have eaten between meals today I am sad to say... Is this normal?   anyone else?

What are you eating? liquid or dense protein? If its all liquid or pureed foods it may be time to step up to "real food" eat some solid foods it will stay in you longer and keep you full longer.

pretty much my diet the past few days has been beans, cottage cheese, and yogurt.   Oh yeah, and tuna.    I am terrified of not losing my weight.   I am wondering if it could be I am just tired from doing too much and my body is resorting back to its old standby  food.  :(

Shella, Beans are higher in Carbs than dense protein, so is dairy. These carbs could be causing the hunger. Just a guess. I just got back from Nut class today and that is one of the things we talked about today.

I had my surgery 8/1/08 so we are about 3 weeks apart.  I started to eat a little more substance at 1 month, but you should follow your doctors protocol to the letter.  You may want to give them a call and ask them if you can add something with a bit more substance as you are eating "slider" foods right now and they really don't stay with you too long.  I was told I would never be hungry for like a year, not true.  I was hungry 2 days after the surgery and I get hungry grumbly stomache all the time.  I am in my 8th week or 7 weeks 3 days now and I have found what works for me is eating every 2 hours.  Are you hungry after you eat or how often after?  I would call your doc and ask maybe they will up your 1/4 cup or give you something that will stick with you a little longer.  I wish you the best and keep us posted.

I called the nurse today for this reason (Im hungry too! ) and she said I need to add more protein (70 grams or more a day) and eat 5 meals a day every 3 hrs. Also she said I need to make sure Im getting in all my water/liquids 64 oz or more a day. I did add another protein drink today and I haven't been hungry so maybe that is the trick. She also said some RNY's still feel the hunger I wish I wasn't one of them b/c I thought I wouldn't be hungry until a yr out

Always follow your Dr's protocol.  I found that when I am not getting all of my water in for the day, my stomach seems to get mad at me.  Almost a hunger feeling.  Are you getting all your water in?

Count your carbs. Anytime I go above 20g I start getting hungry.  (yes, my doc says it's ok to have 40g of carbs, and I can if I want to be hungry all day).

If you don't have a spreadsheet, start one and track everything.  I'd drop the beans, but that's me.  Too many carbs for me.

Good luck.

Shell, you are doing fine.  You are normal........LOL......Just follow your body.  I would try to have some SF pop sickles when you are wanting something in between meals.  I also liked beef broth.  I liked the packages from top roman, just the seasoning, not the noodles.......LOL

Thank in there girl, you will figure it out,
