I had mine done with Tri-Care Prime( that's the only way to go) if you don't have prime, switch. You have to be 100 pound over weight on the day of surgery and have at least one health related medical problem, ie..sleep apnea, joint pain, blood sugar issues, high blood pressure etc.

I started my WLS journey on March 6th 2008 had surgery April 10. I was 100 pound over weight and had was type 2 diabetic, no other problems. Dr Owen in San Diego at Alverado Hospital. He had moved to San Pedro.

The bottom line is how the office writes your letter of necessity. It all cost me about  $ 25.00.
Good luck with your weightloss Journey.
