B12 deficiency
Thanks for sharing your story! Now that you mentioned it, it seems like they put in for the B1 and they ordered it wrong or something and it didn't go through. Not sure if they collected it in the wrong vial, or what the deal is but it was turned down. I will definitely have them check into that!

Hey There Cyndi,
So glad to hear that you don't have M.S. I remembered the last
time we talked that you had an appointment sometime the middle
of September I just couldn't remember what date exactly. Thanks
for sharing the information regarding B12 deficiency. Although I
have been faithful with all my vitamins and Iron I am surely going
to up my B-12 intake. Currently I take it twice a week and so far
all my labs have been Great but I'm going to start taking it every-
day. Sorry this summer has been an emotional rollar coaster,
hopefully you can try to enjoy what's left of it. I'm sure that the
MRI of the brain will show nothing, at least you have a Dr. that
cares enough to run all the tests. Talk to you soon!

HI all...What wonderful information on vitamins and supplements. I am pre-op but have been interested in vitamin supplementation since becomming a caregiver for my mother who had cancer and renal failure. I did the research and started her on B12 and folic acid when seeing her labs and the docs saying it was par for the course. Well, let me tell you, she rebounded and had quality of life with better memory, comprehension and LABS for the remainder of her life with me. I knew I was going into the bari-program before she came to live with me so ofcourse, with all the classes for preparation, I learned about the need for the supplements. I started my own vitamin regine well over a year ago and my surgery is not quite scheduled yet....but soon!!! I wish I had paid attention to supplemental vitamins many many years ago..when being a college gal and then wife and mom and nurse...I would have felt much better and not had the years of fatigue and malaise. My kids call my B12 and supplements my "Mom's legal speed"..silly kids!

Hi Cyndi,
I am sorry that you're going through all of this. The waiting and not knowing is, and has had to be, really tough. I'm glad to hear you don't have MS, and hope the end result is nothing serious and it's correctable.
Thanks for sharing - you know, my personal opinion, we get three/four years plus out from surgery and it's really easy to start thinking we're out of the woods in terms of complications from WLS. However, I truly believe that we're never out of the woods, and there are still a lot of potential known and unknows out there.
The above being said, I've been very lucky and haven't had any complications - but, do believe there will always be future potential. I continue doing my best to try and minimize this potential by following protocal, but, again, that may not always be enough.
I'm not saying this to discourage anyone - just to emphasize that this is a serious decison, and it's important to make it with as much information as possible. Thanks for sharing.
Wishing you the best. Also, please give my best to my "Angel" Scott and "Surgery Sister" Dolly.

Thanks Patty! You are so right-- we tend to get comfortable and think we are out of the woods after a few years. I was SOOOO good about my vitamins the first year after. Hardly missed a day! Then I slowly started slacking off and it took a couple years of slacking for it to catch up with me. This was really scary--mentally draining! I never had pain or anything from it, but having to live for months wondering if it was MS, or a tumor. It really took it's toll on me! And knowing now that it is something I brought on myself really ****** me off. LOL
I will definitely say hi to Scott and Dolly for you! We need to plan a dinner out towards Orange county soon so we can all catch up. Maybe Brea or Fullerton area? Seems like we always got a large turnout in that area back in the day. Maybe we can find a wknd night after everyone gets off work and we can all meet for happy hour.

Yep, go get it checked, Gene! Don't wait till it's too late. Believe me, I am KICKING myself for letting this happen in the first place. Knowing what could happen and still neglecting to stay on top of my supplements was just plain stupidity. I've always felt so great since surgery that I guess I never imagined something bad coming of it. Never really had any of the bad affects after surgery that some others go through so guess I got comfy in my new lifestyle.
