Good News....Or Bad News

I am not sure which way to take this. But the doc (chiropractor) thinks I might have a herniated disk, so now I have to go and get a MRI. To make sure or rule it out. Oh joy! He is pretty sure that that is my problem which explain all the up and downs I have had. It also would explain why the shot didn’t do me any good. I have to go back to the doc on Friday and in the mean time, I have to wait for the MRI. He was bit shocked to hear that I have been running and riding my bike and working. Told me I need to be a patient where I work.  And yet he called me normal for hiding the pain for so long. Shocked that I lasted as long without pain management before now, NOT that he done anything about that.

So that is the long and the short of it. Although I never stopped to ask they will do for my back now. Or after the MRI. How do you fix a herniated disk?

I guess I have few question for him on Friday.

OK take care all

Sorry to hear about your news. Since you can do so much, maybe recovery will be short? Hope so. Anyhow, just wanted to say hi and hope you feel better.

Awww thank you for stopping by to say hi.
I think like you, if I can keep moving, it will get better faster. So I am going to try to do 8 miles tonight. EKKK!!

I'm glad you at least have a reason for all the pain and hope it heals quickly.  I know that when my brother's back got so bad that he had the leg numbness and pain he ended up with surgery.  It has been 5 years and although he still had pain at time (mostly due to stupidly weight training with his high school football players that are 22years younger), he feels better that before.   Hope all goes well with the MRI and they find an easy solution to get you pain free.     Melissa

I hope surgery is not in my "get well" plain. I think that I can live with the pain, if I can just get some sleep. But I guess the pain is not good, and means that my disk is "popping" out. LOL

I am not going to let this stop me. So I will keep running and doing my yogo and wait to see what the MRI says. They do talk right?

Not sure if that is good or bad news, but it is closer to an answer at least! Hopefully whatever it is, it will be an easy fix. You've already proved you can tolerate major pain, you are one tough cookie!!!
You are in my prayers sweetie! Can't wait to see you Saturday!!!

I have been using an ice pack since I got home, and that seems to help with pain. So maybe I can work it out that way. Of course I will see what the doc/mri has to say, also.

I can live with the pain, its the no sleep that is getting to me.

Hi there.  I actually have 3 herniated disks in my back and 2 degenerated disks  The only thing my Doctor did was send me to physical therapy.  I also had a cortisone epidural injection (three of them actually)  Ice and anti inflammatory meds.  Now since WLS surgery, my back just hurts all the time especially since I can't take motrin anymore.  I have been dealing with it for almost 5 years now.  Once it gets to the point of not being able to walk, I may consider surgery.  But ice and physical therapy helped alot.  Buts thats just me.  I actually was a vet tech and injured my back while lifting a heavy dog from the floor to the x ray table.  I now have a sedintary job I really miss working with the critters, but it's too hard on the body.  Always bending or kneeling or lifting etc.

I hope you get some relief soon though, I know how frustrating it can be to have back pain.

Take care

Linda

I never had one, but my sister and Mom suffer from them...I found this information page to be very helpful.

Oh Lu, sorry to hear that about your back.  I also have back problems, but mine like Linda's are degenerative and the two in my neck are compressed.  I do have a cracked pars L5.  I just take the pain most of the time.  I was with a pain management group for a long time before WLS, and then stopped to get this done.  I am going back on the 25th of this month to figure out what I can do.  I don't know much about a herniated disk.  But it does sound like a "A ticket" ride to me.  I hope you are  up for Saturday I would love to see you.
