8 - 8 OZ of H2O
Ok, I am 4 weeks out today. I have lost 35 pounds, feeling good for the most part. I haven't had any real problems, i.e dumping and that sort of thing. But I just can't get the 8 - 8ozs of clear liquid in now matter how early I start or how late I stop. Now I have Interstitial Cystitis and it is always hard getting in a full 64 ozs in due to the fact I could end up in the bathroom 60 times a day or every 10 minutes (fact), but I do get about 6-8oz glass in everyday no matter what my poor flaming bladder is doing.
My question is how harmful in the long run can this be? And does milk count in the liquid? Or is it just clear only that counts in the daily amount?
Thanks to those of you that have a moment to answer my question.

I don't know of many people that can get that much in right away. I know I couldn't and didn't and I still lost. So don't worry about it. Do the very best you can and it will be fine. Try for at least half of what you need and then try to add a little each day. You're not used to having that much, and it's tough on a small pouch to be so full all the time at first. You HAD major surgery, so take care of yourself.

I do sugar free popsicles, yum. The weight... I am very pleased with the rate it is coming off. I just want to stay as healthy as possible. And I know it is important to stay hydrated. My pouch and bladder are about the same size (not kidding) so you would think they would get along much better now.
But it just isn't the case.
Thanks for the answers, I feel better knowing that I am doing pretty well for being 4 weeks out.

Joy!
I am so proud of you! From what I understood when I went to my nutritionist milk and any protein drink counts as your fluid.
Have you signed up for the nutrition class that Dr. Coats office tells you to do at your first post-op appt? If not, then we should go on the same day!!
Love ya!

Joy you are doing great. They do say to work your way up to that much. They know that you can not drink that much right away. You just have to sip as much as you can all day in between the food. I have already planned my days to be able to get in the food and vitamins and liquids. My days will start at 630 then end around 1130 to midnight. I will have to take a nap in there sometime so I get enough rest. I figured I could do that when I am waiting the hour after eating.
Yes your milk counts as liquid, so do popsicles because they melt into liquid. It is any sugar free, caffine free, liquid. It is jus****er is the best for you.
This is what they told me at the 4 hour pre-op class I went to last week. I hope this helps.

Joy,
What helps me here in the hot dessert is giant snow cones made only of ice! I went to the fair last weekend and got one of those really giant ones! I get it just with the ice and no sugary syrup on it. I can't tell you how many people stopped me to tell me how delicious it looked and where did I get it. I have a snow cone machine at home also and it is a life saver for me. I also freeze my water so it is always ice cold, that seems to help me and I go no where without 3-4 bottles packed in an ice chest or I walk around the house with one in my hand always. Good luck to you and just keep trying your best you will get there.
Rhonda.
