There are some great events coming up in the next few weeks if you're still trying to get aboard the exercise train... walking a 5k (3.2 miles) is a great way to start.

So here's some info (for all you planners) these events are always a lot of  fun and if you're new to organized running/walking you'll see that there is a great spirit of commradiere amongst athletes of all levels of abilty.....it's just the OH runners that are a little wacko. ;)

OCTOBERLong Beach Marathon, Sunday October 12th:  http://www.runlongbeach.com/site5.aspx

Half Marathon, 5k, Bike Tour, and Kids Run

There’s still time to sign up, bring your kid, your bike or your running shoes and have fun in my home town of beautiful Long Beach! The course is flat and scenic…with plenty of water stops along the way.

NOVEMBER

Long Beach Turkey Trot, Thursday November 27th (Thanksgiving Day) :  http://www.turkeytrot.us/

5k, 10k, and Kids ¼-mile Wing Ding Run

Over 4,000 runners are expected at this event that is a fundraiser for local charities in the Long Beach area. Awesome T-shirts to all runners and walkers…..AND, more than 350 holiday pies to random finishers!

This is your chance to get some of that infamous HOLIDAY PIE that is always being talked about!!!!!

Hi Monica,
My hubby is doing the long beach (I've done it 2x's...I love that course). I'll be there, so maybe I'll to the 5k.

Hugs,
Rachel

My "old school" bike is on it's way to me right now.  I should have it by the end of the week and tuned up and ready to go next week.  As long as I can figure out how to swim, I'm doing it!  Do you know anyone with a bike you can borrow?  Or what about that girl that offered her mtn. bike?  Wetsuits can be rented!

I saw used wetsuits at Play It Again sports, and I guess I could find a place to rent one.  I'll look into the bike.

Still, the LB Turkey Trot is on a Thursday.  The Turkey Tri is on a Sunday.  I could do the 5k as a bandit runner and still do the tri.

You want to get some pie?
