A Little Mystery...
Okay, what I need is a little help...has anyone ever had any problems eating after they started going on the Protein Train?
This is the deal, I am over 4 years out...healthy as a horse...but never reach goal. So, of course, I'm still trying to lose more and do the whole protein...protein...protein thing to lose a few more pounds. Don't get me wrong...I do great...but I've begun to notice that after a few weeks of doing the protein/veggie thing (no carbs) that suddenly I can't handle meat anymore...and it doesn't matter what form (ground beef, boiled chicken, etc.) . It's is not that I don't want it, but that when I take a bite or two suddenly it gets "stuck"...you all know what I mean...and after a few minutes of stuggling to keep it down I have to go get rid of it. Now I'm doing a lot of protein drinks to get a majority of my protein in. I still try to eat...take tiny tiny bites...chew...chew...chew...and occasionally I can get some down before the feeling comes back.
To be honest I didn't realize this was a pattern until a friend of mine pointed it out to me and I went back to my food logs and sure enough it has happened pretty regularly within two to three weeks of getting on the Protein Train. After reviewing the logs I noticed a few other things...like this will pass in two month or so, but then my appetite decreases significantly so I have to maintain my levels by doing protein again. If I stop...add back in carbs...my appetite returns to normal and I don't choke on my food anymore.
Think it is all in my head?

Are you sure this will work?
Hi Josie...
Wish I had some words of wisdom for you. It's never happened to me. Just wanted to say "Hi"
Actually, I'm one of those people who has never, once, barfed since surgery and has been able to eat any kind of meat since I was allowed to at 6-weeks out (I chew well). Not bragging or saying it's a good thing - just the way it has always been.
As for it being all in your head... I say it doesn't matter whether it is or not. If you're feeling that way, then you're feeling that way, regardless of where it comes from.
Hang in there...

Josie,
My opinion is you would be better doing the 5 day pouch test and using it for awhile. The protein train is just a bit to harsh for my liking......I see better results on people with the 5 day....plus you get to eat food, she has some really nice recipes to go along with it.

Thanks, actually I did start on the 5 day pouch test and then moved to an Atkins style diet, but looking at my logs apparently this has been a problem for longer than even I realized since I even had a short stint back at Jenny Craig and the same problem occurred with the food they provided. I see a definite problem...but no solid reason it should be happening. I'm thinking I'm gonna increase my water intake...maybe I'm just not hydrated enough that my throat is drying or something. I'll try a few solutions. In another month or so it won't be an issue so I'm not going to worry too much as long as my protein levels and labs remain good. I get new tests this Friday so they can be compared to my levels a month ago.
Thank you again!
