I have an appt to see a surgeon at Kaiser for a tummy tuck....I hear soooo many different stories

Yes they tighten your muscles....No they don't tighten your muscles.....
Yes they pull from every angle....No they don't pull from every angle....
Yes they contour your body.....No they don't contour the body....
Yes they'll get rid of the mid section.....No they don't get rid of the mid section...
Yes they butcher you...No they don't butcher you....
So what's the deal....Anyone?

I won't know until I have my consultation in a few weeks.  I'm sure every surgeon is different.....

Hello Gus,
Are you asking about tummy tuck in general or how Kaiser does it?

My Mom had a tummy tuck done by the head of the Plastics Dept of Kasier Downey about 3 years ago, cost her a whopping $5.00 co-pay.

She had lost 175 lbs, took her 3 years but she did it without any surgeries to help her and all her DR's were so proud they fought for plastics for her.

Her tummy tuck went very smoothly, she came home with, oh, 125 staples or so and drains that stayed in for a week or more. They removed an additional 20+ pounds of skin.  No problems, no complications at all.

Good luck Gus!

Hi Gus....
My "understanding" is that Kaiser will cover a Panniculectomy....which is just removing the skin.
A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is the surgery where the skin is removed and they tighten all the muscles underneath.

I know Kaiser changes their policies often and it might even differ by surgeon. If you have a choice, I would definitely request the tummy tuck.

As far as I know they just pull and cut.  The skin I mean.  no contour or muscle tightening because that is consider cosmetic and not medically necessary.  Keep me posted I plan on starting the process at the end of the year.  Of course you know every doc is different and some are willing to do a bit more than what they are suppose to.

Hi my little Angelette!!!   Nadine had her Pannie removed through Kaiser.  You might want to talk with her about her experience.  You should also ask about her BB!!!
