7 weeks out........ouchie Pouchie

I am feeling a little discouraged on friday I had an episode where I ate chicken (reheated) and it got stuck!  so I went back onto pureed foods for the weekend.  I just tried a little bit of sliced turkey (deli meat ) with a little fat free mayo.  Same thing happend.  I know it's only been 7 weeks but I read these boards and it seems like everyone else that had surgery right around the same time and even after me are eating with no problems.

I feel like I will be on pureed foods forever.  I don't even want to try regular food anymore

Any advise?

I am sorry you are not feeling well Linda.  I got my first stucky on Saturday night and it was not fun at all.  It finnally went down.  Did you ask your doctor what the problem is?  Did he give you an extra small pouch?  You are looking terrific, but I can understand not wanting to try regular foods.  If I even put something in my mouth that is questionable my brain says nope and I have got to take it out.  I have been lucky and found a few things that I can eat.  Beef belive that or not.  But very very tender beef.  I can't do chicken unless it is the inside of an El Pollo loco taco del carbon.  I can eat onions and salsa though no problem.  But chicken in general or eggs no way jose.  I will keep you in prayers and I know the soft stuff is so tired.

Thanks Rhonda.  No, I haven't checked with my dr. yet.  I am just going to stick with the pureed foods for one more week and then try again.

I think that is a good idea.  From what I have heard and read here, it just takes different people different amount of time to heal etc.  Same as Dr.'s protocols they are all different and really don't have a rhyme or reason.  But time seems to be the biggest thing here, just wait.  Good luck.

Yeah.  I guess I was just venting.  BTW.....your picture looks great.  It's so nice to put a face with the writing.

Take care

Hey Linda, I am sorry you are having a hard time with soild food. I wish I knew what to recommend but I don't have a clue.
I had my fisrt problem with food last night. I took one tiny bit of chicken that was ok...took the second and started gagging???? Have no idea why I just couldn't eat it. So, it was cottage cheese for dinner.
I hope you figure this out real soon if not I would call the surgeon.

Hey Linda,

It's true.  Everyone's body is different and everyone heals at different paces. It just sounds like you may have an ultra sensitive pouchie.  I did too.  So I can relate to you.  But think of it this way, it will HELP you to be strict with yourself.  Because it's soo easy to fall off course and give in to temptation.  So, if your pouch is sensitive, you won't be as willing to try bad things.  Ya get it?

It just takes time.. hang in there.  It will get easier!

Take care,

Hey Linda,

Hang in there girl, it really does get easier. I had a hard time with the "white" meats early out. did much better with beef or if I did go with turkey or chicken it was dark leg or thigh meat. Even today I can not eat re-heated chicken or turkey, yet beef is ok. I do well with ground turkey and ground beef too. maybe try one of those. also, when trying "solid" food, make sure it is super moist or even stick to the softer things. Deli ham went down really easy too. Good luck!

Hi Linda,
Chicken is still my nemesis.  Funny thing, I could eat beef with less stress and strain than chicken.  Go figure...  Can you eat fish? (or like it?)  I had pretty good luck with fish.  Tuna salad, etc.  Maybe try chicken salad?  Keep hanging in there.  You look great even if you don't feel great all the time.
