Thats pretty cool.... seems like a good thing to be a part of. Im a Native Daughter of Mississippi... haha. Yes I still have the accent. Y'allllll .... Jess
I'm here. I just finished baking a double batch of cookies. Aromas do it for me these days! Hubby's going to Colorado and he's taking them with him. The night crew he works with gave me a gift certificate for a massage so the thank you card goes with a container of cookies. These guys are the recipients of my culinary creations. They've already let me know what they want for dinner when I'm feeling better!

Nothing like a little aromatherapy. I love those chocolate pedicures too ha ha. And those candles that smell like coffee. Thats nice of you to give cookies to them. Massages are my favorite. I carry so much tension in my neck its unreal. My hubby tries to help it but will wimp out... he does a good job while he lasts. You much be a master chef to get requests.. my mom loves to cook and the whole neighborhood gets supplied with scones, cookies, brownies and the like. Jess
My Mom is a retired chef so I grew up learning what good food was. Now we share the cooking, I love baking but when I was in NV out in the middle of nowhere, I would make stuff for my man to take to work, he would always take a few of the guys some of whatever it was that I had made. One morning when he was coming in from work his buddy came to the door with a bowl in his hand wanting seconds of my chili. LOL... I laughed so hard I was in tears. From then on he always got 2 servings sent out to him. Ya gotta luv roughnecks.
Oh, Jesse ain't nothin' wrong with a little accent. I lived in North Caroline and Alabama for awhile and started to pick up a bit of one myself.

I remember my granny making some wonderful southern comfort foods when I was younger. We had some good cooks in the family. My hubby went to the CA culinary academy as well, but he doesnt work as a chef now. But hes a good cook too... Italian foods are his speciality.
The funny thing about the accent is my son grew up out here so he doesnt have one. My hubby is born and raised here so he doesnt have one either. Im the only one ha ha.
You will definately pick it up if you get anywhere around where I used to live... I forgot how friendly everyone was around town last time I visited my parents. Everyone kept waving at me and I though why is everyone waving. My mom said everyone does that dont you remember... I was like uhhh... no. Then I ran into someone I knew from my teenage years and they said I heard you were coming to town... ha ha. I should have had a parade. But that goes to show the good hospitality back home. Jess

Yeah my hubby learned from his Nonni the authentic recipes... but they are full of bad stuff that tastes good.
I'm not a "trained" chef but I grew up in a family of 7, my hubby and I have 7 kids between us and 5 of them are boys. They're all gone now so I had nobody to cook for! Now I do!They love to eat! So........the night crew gets tri tip sandwiches, potato salad, spaghetti, lasagne, chicken, whatever they want. They've already put in a request for bisquits and gravy (i make the total best!) when I feel better. I don't mind - I love to go sit with hubby during dinner so it keeps me busy and out of trouble - I have total ADHD sometimes and just don't know how to sit still. Gotta putter.
My loving hubby with foot in mouth told me I was "the most active chubby person" he'd ever known. Pull foot out of mouth dear!

Wow 5 hungry boys is great training! I have 1 hungry 13 year old boy and whew... but x5... would need to go to costco every day. Ill take the biscuits and gravy. I was such a bad girl one day I had a biscuit adn chicken strip at popeyes chicken. But Ive reformed dont worry....
I can definately sit still, but one time I had a medication that gave me restless leg syndrome and good lord! I went hiking up a mountain with a group of poeple and was first up the trail. ha ha.
My mother cooks more now bc she has thyroid issues and cant sit still bc of it. She channels all of her energy into the cooking. Pretty nice way to deal...
Thats a typical foot in mouth moment for most hubbys... mine told me I had a flat butt. I was like thanks... wahhh wah. Then I was trying on clothes one day and came out to show him to see if I should get them. He said those pants look tight get a bigger pair. I was like under no condition should you ever suggest I should wear a bigger size. lol

My hubby is the king of foot in mouth disease - he's a caveman, knuckle dragger, etc. Love the hell out of him and he knows to take his foot out of his mouth when I give him that "look".
I have been HDAD all ,my life. Could never sit still. medicated as a kid and now I just channel the energy. Home alone with nothing to do drives me nuts. I have clean clean closets now that he's working nights and I work days. I'm having my surgery on Monday and he's leaving on Thursday to go hunting in Colorado which is perfect. When I'm sick and healing, I want NOBODY around me that I feel I need to nurture, take care of , blah blah blah.
We grind our own sausage from wild pig and season with our special blend I use it in my gravy along with......... chicken broth and coarse ground pepper. White sauce made from butter and flour and milk. Ok, nothing bad at all for us in that concoction. Home made bisquits with bacon in them. And the smell alone does it for me. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
