Ok, so I went to apply for Medi Cal and they said I was not eligible at this time but they are going to help me to try to get it based on disability. They gave me some paperwork to compeete and said it could be 6-9 months to get approved. Also, they said I could go to this place called Goldenn Valley for medical care. I am going to check that out on Monday. All in all, I was a bit disappointed that they woulld make me go through so long a process. But, could be worse. I am hoping that it will move along faster. Have any of you went through the DED process? Next week I am going to apply for SSI... ugh!

I am on total SSDI and have been for 4 years. It took me 7 months to get approved . I had a huge paper trail and the support of many in the medical profession. Most application take 8-13 months or more. You have to be able to prove to S.S. that you are unable to work due to your disability. Your age will also be a factor. The younger you are the hard it is to get it approved.

GOOD LUCK

Unfortunately the "system" sucks!!! I am now without Medi-cal and have no insurance and just got turned down for SSI after having 3 strokes last year! And I can't fight it, don't have the time, money, or a doctor to back me and without medical insurance can't find a new doctor that will back me! It is really tough and I know the disappointment you are feeling sweetie!!! It has been a long road for me and I've gotten nowhere!! It is a long process for SSI, so don't expect anything soon and be prepared to be turned down the first time, most people are! As far as I can tell, there is no rhyme or reason to it all!!!
I will keep you in my prayers and if there is anything I can help with, let me know! What is Golden Valley? Do you have a doctor backing your issues for SSI? May I ask what they are, maybe I can give you some tips! Hang in there and keep the faith!!!

I understand your frustration....I am on SSDI - Permanant Disability.....when it all started I also tried for Medi-cal - REJECTED....filed for Perm Disablility - REJECTED and so on and so on....but then after the first denial with SS I hired an attorney - I recomment Binder & Binder - they specialize in Perm Disability/SS and they work on contingency so no money up front....and if they don't get it for you - you don't pay them.....but for me it took like 3 years to finally get it and that was after many appeals, dr visits, and red tape...but alas they won the case for me and then I did get paid retroactivly back to when I first became disabled.....but Binder & Binder do ALL the work for you.....

If anyone wants more info on the process - pm me and Iwill give you my phone number and I can answer any questions for you.....Becky (anewbecaboo) this goes for you too sweetie - cause for SURE you should qualify - and the attorneys will definitely work for you and get all the needed info.....it is really hard to get approved by yourself and really do need the attorney working for you....
