Long Beach marathon,1/2 marathon, bike tour, 5k and kid's run
Blisters might have taken me down at Disneyland but the Long Beach 1/2 Marathon is just around the corner. It's on like Donkey Kong!!!! I want to finish the time I had planned!!!
Come visit my home town!! The Long Beach Marathon is coming up on Sunday, October 12th!!!!
Unless you've already been training I doubt most could be ready for the full marathon in 5 weeks....BUT
There's a half marathon 13.1 miles, I know Kim (puddin) has been training for it.I plan to cheer her on when she finishes.
There's a bike tour, Liz R. and all you cyclists....where you at??? Come to Long Beach!
There's a 5k run/walk. Where are you running-newbies, preops, post-ops, exercise-phobic?? Christina? Willa? Melody? Walking at a moderately brisk pace most people could complete a 5k in under an hour and the scenery is great, so is the weather.
AND...
There's a kid's 1-mile fun run, so bring the little ones with you and let them participate.

ALSO!!!!!
The Long Beach Marathon is part of the California Dreamin' race series.Participants who also enter the Huntington Beach Marathon (www.runsurfcity.com) in February 2009, AND the San Fracisco Marathon (www.runsfm.com) in July 2009 will receive a finishers jacket and a medal in the shape of California. You don't have to run 3 full marathons you can enter any of their smaller events to qualify. http://www.caldreaminracing.com/Events.cfm

Cindy and I will be there for sure. We have booked a room and ready to have a blast. We will be down there saturday for the expo and then we are going to hang out and enjoy the town. That is where mom and dad was born.
Are you going to be a dinner together? Are you running Long beach? 1/2 or full?
Let me know
LL
My last attempt at doing dinner the night before was a total failure, but I'm willing to give it another try. I would love to finally meet you.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but Cindy and I would there for the dinner. If you don't make it to late. I like to get to bed, even if it just to watch TV early and get lots of rest. (notice, I said rest, not sleep)
Right now I am fighting a bad back, and I am hoping to see the doc today, so that I will not have any problem with my back durning the race. Or after.
I think I have told you once before, that you are welcome to run with Cindy and I, but just in case I didn't, you are welcome.
Take care girl.

I am currently doing the Couch to 5K program and have designated Oct 12 LB as my first official run...OMG I said it didn't I!!
I haven't signed up yet, but signing up for all 3 sounds interesting and lofty goals...hmmm we'll see on payday next week!
How do people feel after the race? I'm thinking of staying in LB after the race...oh who knows to far in advance for my brain.

Go Shell!!!! Afterwards my feet are usually a little sore and I'm really, really REALLY hungry. Bring some sort of protein for after the run, it helps eliminate the soreness.
