Tomorrow I start my liquid diet and my bowel cleansing for surgery on the 3rd. How bad is the bowel cleansing? Am I going to be on the pot all day?!?
I've gotta know just so I can warn the family that I get priority over the toilet! lol

Mine wasn't too bad. BUT let the family know you may need the potty with NO notice.

Mine was awful!!!!  I was in the bathroom the whole day!  Do yourself a favor and get baby wipes, so you don't get irritated!

Definatley warn the family..

Your experience may not be as bad as mine.. but hey.. it's a bowel cleanse.. so it's not gonna be pretty!  ya know!

Good luck!!!!!

Dr Coates is my surgeon also.

What does the bowel cleanse consist of?

What does the liquid diet consist of?

And what does he do in his pre-op visit?

My surgery is Oct 21, I am going Sept 9 for the 4 hour pre-op class, and my Pre-op with               Dr Coates is Oct 17.

I want to wish you luck with your surgery, I will be praying for an uneventful surgery and for a speedy recovery for you.

Thank you for any response.

Sue, The liquid diet is SF jello, water broth ( I like Better than bouillon you can get it in most grocery stores.) Crystal Lite SF kool aid. Now some Dr say nothing red a few dats before surgery. Oh and not to forget sugar free Popsicles.
Now for Dr Coates says one bottle of Citrate of Magnesium. I bought the lemon flavored one it goes down easier for me.

Hi Sue!

All of your questions were answered by Joy. Except for the pre-op visit. All he does is comes in, does a quick little physical, and askes you if you have any questions. And thats it. He is a very nice!

I just did it for a colonoscopy and it was a HORRIBLE experience that I have no desire to repeat. And several times I had trouble getting to the pot on time. I ended up just staying in my bedroom where it was close.

Luckily I don't have to do the full thing again for the WLS surgery, just take some MoM the night before.
