Back onboard!

Hi all!  Haven't been here in ages! So much has happened since last time too. I gained back 10 lbs. But I hear it's normal to gain that much back 2 yrs. after surgery. So I'm OK with it, but still working on getting rid of the weight.

I also got a great job, and through that great job I met a wonderful man . Got married May 1st of this year!   Yeah, that's when those 10 lbs. came back too! Hubby likes to feed me. But he's learning more every day about proper portion sizes for me, and I'm learning how to sweetly tell him "not so much on the plate, darling" (he dishes up the food too).

So I'm back onboard, making that first step toward getting back on track with my weight loss. My goal is to get down to 150 lbs. by Oct. 31st. I'm at 175 now, which means I have 25 lbs. to go. But I know I can do it. I lost 19½ lbs. in only 2 weeks, before my wls. So I can certainly lost 25 lbs. in 8 weeks. Just gotta exercise and watch those portion sizes!

Hey welcome back and congrats on getting married too!

It is easy to slip back into old habits....I can be the spokesperson for that one for sure. If you do no****ch it those 10 pounds can turn into the 25 I gained last year.

However I took myself by the bootstraps, got out of denial about a lot of things and went on to lose not only the 25, but over than doubled that weight loss since then.

A lot of us did that 5 day pouch test thing to detox ourselves from the carb monster. Here is the link to it:

http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

It saved me for sure and I adhere to a 40-50 carb day diet without any bread, pasta, rice, potatoes....anything. I get my carbs from one serving of fruit a day and veggies.

I wish you much success in reaching a goal that might be a bit stressful, but hey more power to you if you can make that goal in your given time.

As we all know it is about a lifestyle change and in order to be long term successful we have to change and get out of denial!

Stick around and be accountable! Bounce

Thanks bonkers, and janine too, for your encouraging words!  I actually tried the 5 day pouch test once before. But ended up not finishing it, because I got married, on the spur of the moment, on day 2. Hubby and I wanted to celebrate, and what's a wedding without wedding cake (even if it was an itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie, practically microscopic) slice for me? We were at the county courthose due to a speeding ticket (mine). I had been blessed with a brand-new car (prayer + faith = results). I forgot that I no longer had to "floor it" to reach speed limit on a certain hill. Consequently, I got pulled over.

But, as you can see, the speeding ticket turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The only drawback was not finishing the pouch test  -- but that was my own choice. However, yesterday I went back to the site and printed the test out again. I plan to try it again, starting tomorrow, if I'm up to it. I'm recovering from a virus -- which caused a middle-ear problem -- so I'm a bit lightheaded. I'm taking meds for it though, and not the kind I have to eat with, so there shouldn't be any problem doing the test thing.
