I know alcohol is wasted calories etc.  But how long after surgery can you have a glass (or thimble) of wine?

Hi Linda, you need to consult your surgeon's protocol or your surgeon himself. I know my surgeon says no alcohol for one year.

I think my Dr said at least 6 mos. I go to see him on Tuesday so I will ask.  I was just curious to see when other people got the ok.  How funny huh?  I don't miss food as much as I miss having a glass of wine occasionally.  Oh well, I am not going to do anything to sabotage me success either.  Thanks for the info

I rarely drank prior to surgery, so I probably won't drink at all. I can't justify the sugar content and empty calories. Good luck! =)

For some reason I think my doctor says 3 months.  But I would follow up with your doctor first an see what his protocol is.  I have never been a drinker, but just because I can't have one I want one.   I am portugese with my family coming from the wine country.  I was drinking wine at 3 with dinner.  Went into culture shock at 25 when at a company lunch were not allowed to have wine with lunch.  I love fine wines.  We so rarely drink that when we do we always get a very expensive bottle to enjoy.  Now i have a feeling a few sips will get me snockered to the max.  DO they give doggie bags for wine?  lol.  The one thing my doctor told me was to try it at home first.  Never try a new drink or new food out and about.  Always at home,  I am sticking to that.  I do not want to hear a story the next day that I was dancing on the bar in my underwear!  I would die of embarrassment.  So when you doctor says yes and so does mine, we should get together and have our first wine, your house or mine!  lol  have a great night.  Rhonda
