the Insurance company myself to check on my status, WHO would I call and WHAT do I ask?  I'm going to email the Surgeons office in a bit to see but as of yesterday, it was "in review"....

Any suggestions on calling?  I'm nervous but want to know!  :)

Thanks!

It's been a week.

She said it should take 7 days, I believe.

But some here said they have called the Insurance and got an answer before the surgeons office.  So just asking :)

I called my ins. to double check that they recieved all my info from the Dr. then called every day! I thought they all have by law a 3 day turn over? I thought they had to  make a decision with in 3days of submittal. I believe that is right.  I didn't wait for my Dr. office I called and called.

I have Blue Cross HMO and I would call my Medical Group, that is where the approvals go.

I'd call they must have an answer. You have every right to call and they need to give you an answer

Who is your insurance company?  Even though you call and they tell you that you are approved and you call the surgeons office they will probably not do anything until they have the auth themselves.

They said the paperwork wasn't rec'd until the 21st.  *sigh*

I have my last 2 appts on Friday and don't want to do them for nothing if I don't have to, ya know?

"Hi, how are you today? My name is __________ and my surgeon, Dr. __________, submitted a preauthorization request for __________. I'm calling to check on the status."

Just be polite and keep it simple!

My insurance approved mine quickly - I received the letter in the mail within about two weeks. The agonizing part was then waiting for the surgeon's office to call me and schedule it - THAT took ANOTHER two weeks!
