Has anyone experienced this?

I have one more week to go on pureed foods and then i can start soft foods.  My question is. I am scared to eat real food.  I am not excited about it at all.  I don't know why I am afraid to eat.  I am not scared that it will get stuck or  of dumping.  I can't put my finger on it.  I was just wondering if it's a normal reaction after surgery.  I am actually going to call today to see when the next nutrition support group is at my hospital.  I ate a scrambled egg this morning for the first time.  It just tasted yucky to me.  But right now, I have no desire to eat anything.  I am probably only getting in about 15 oz of food in an entire day.  Not sure if that's normal or not.

I think many of us felt exactly the same way and it will pass.  You wouls be suprised how solid an egg is and you got it down.  I let the fear work for me.  I made sure that I chewed until it was liquid.  I was like a cat, with a fur ball if I even thought I swallowed to soon. (sorry tmi).  But you get the point.  Also realize that your taste buds may go through changes as well during these food transition.  It will all stabalize in due time.  Glad your feeling better and remember what's normal.  If your experiencing it then its normal for you.

Hope the new school year goes well for you lil miss.

Hi Linda,

It's all new and unknown...and lots of us felt this way!  Just take it slow and you will do great.

I didn't like eggs either.  I do use egg beaters now and do fine with them.  Real eggs still don't taste good to me.

Give it some time and you will learn what works well for you

LInda,
What you are feeling is normal. We all have had are issues as we progress back to eating normal foods. Just take your time, chew chew chew,. I know for me, food did just not taste the same to me for quite sometime. I'm out a little over a year now and can tolerate just about everything, but its funny how some foods I used to like still don't  taste good to me. You are doing great!!!!!

Best Regards,

John
