San Diego...what to do?

It's been awhile since I've gone down to San Diego and NOT been planning on Sea World (although Sea World might be in the picture).

Need some advice on what to do.

I'll be heading down to visit my 19 year old niece who joined the service and is stationed in SD originally from Chicago.

So give me the fun spots to think about....

I like Old Town a lot.  Lots of fun little shops and great food and drinks!

I just heard that Sea World is like $61 or something, that is just CRAZY!!!  IF you go, take a pic of the turtles for me .  Have a great time!

Seaport Village is really nice. They have some really great shops there. THey also have horse-drawn carriage rides. There is a great BBQ place called Kansas City BBQ. They shot the sleazy bar scene from Top Gun there. =)

I love SD

Sea port Village is awesome and lots of cute novelty shops
The Gaslamp district has interesting breweries and eateries.

A hop on the trolly and TJ is a few $$ away.  Or if TJ isn't your thing, there is an outlet mall in San Ysidro.  Now how would I know about shopping? heehee

Have fun whatever you do

OH I forgot!

In Old Town they have a old time trolley tour of San Diego that is really fun!  It makes several stops and you can get out and catch the next one and return at your lesiure, we do that almost everytime!  Just take a jacket for when you go over the bridge to that island, what's it called?  With the HUGE historic hotel??

If I remember correctly it goes by the zoo, botanical gardens, that mall place, seaport village, that island etc.

Ya there are the typicals, the zoo, the wild animal park, Sea World, but there is also down by the beach Belmont Park-it has rides, a little shopping ect. There is Balboa Park, lots of museums, gardens and things like that. There is the Maritime Museum and the USS Midway down at the Embarcadero. You can go on harbor tours. There is the Birch Aquarium and of course many beaches to chose from. Those are some things I didnt see mentioned above. Hope that helps!! Have fun down here!!!!

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations.
I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty,
believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Sorry to say, but the Kansas City Barbeque burnt down about late June . . . but all the other stuff is great.  The big island is Coronado . . . and you can walk around the Hotel Del Coronado too . . . always impressive!
