PCP in the High Desert

Hi ladies, I am hoping maybe one or some of you can recommend a PCP that isn't so downright nasty about WLS. I have been with three different dr's now who have both shook their heads at me, told me I was looking for an easy way out, and haven't been supportive or receptive in the slightest. I am going through my trial with the nutritionist so would really like to present all of my data to a PCP who will allow me to take this to the next level. I don't think I can handle going back to yet another dr. who gets me choked up, leaving me incapable of pushing for what I know I need/ want. I have learned through this lengthy process (been trying to get a referral since January) that I have PCOS, and have been through the ringer even with the endocrinologist and OB about being obese. I am so tired of being treated like a fat person who sits around eating and watching tv all day (whiich is not even remotely the case) so a PCP who is not going to bring me down would be a HUGE advance.

Thanks
Sarah

Thank You, I am HMO (Blueshield), and I switched my Medical Group to one that my surgeon's office said they work with. I tried calling the surgeons office today to see if they could recommend a PCP that refers to them but they seemed super annoyed by the mere request and assured me they have no idea *****fers to them...um, ok. Thanks for the link to your post. I'll check it out.

I have Dr Petrus in Apple Valley. I told her what I wanted and she said ok. She has quite a few patients that have had WLS.

Hi.............I have Blue Shield of Ca - HMO, I have Sierra Medical Group ( Which is also AV Med Associates ) in Lancaster - zip code is  93534. My PCP is leaving in one month so I don't think she will be taking an new pt's. My PCP is Dr. Singla and she referred me after doing 6 months of curves. After the 6 months she put in a referral which had to be approved first thur ther medical group.........( thats the one thing I hate with a HMO...Everything has to go thur the medical group ). Well the medical Group Approved my Consult to see the Surgeon. After seeing the Surgeon I did all the Pre -op Tests including the Psy Eval and now I'm waiting for the Surgeons office to fax over all that info to the Medical Group.  Once they get the paperwork from the surgeon, I will know within 5 - 7 days if I'm Approved for the Surgery. Again it's up to the Medical Group if they will approve me, even if my PCP refers me its up to the medical group. If you want to know how it went with my medical group please add me as a friend and read my post, I post everything that happens.................Lori
