HELP PLZ.........RICE
Good Sunday Morn'n to the greatest Cali Crew,
Well I need some seriouse advice from the post-ops. Last night my hubby and I went to visit my best friend and we went to dinner. She wanted to go to this teppan place so we went. We ordered scallops and steak, well the cheif gave us some fried rice. Now know I have eaten rice before (small bits here and there) and havn't had a problem, well I had a huge problem. ( I beleive it was from the rice, but not sure) When we left I all of a sudden got the most horrible pains in my stomach area. It felt like I had so much gas built up and I couldn't get it out. Like someone need to get a needle and pop me. I tried to go to the restroom, I tried to get it up, I took some gas x, I drank water(about an hour later), I drank warm water with meat tenderizer, nothing worked. It was so painful I was tempted to go the ER. I laid down in bed and laid on my arm on my tummy and it seemed to help a very little, but I fell alseep and I just got up and my tummy muscles are so sore. So with all this said, What do you guys think it was? Please share your thought with me on this. I will tell you I will NEVER touch rice again.
WARNING FOR PRE-OP AND NEW POST-OPS
DO NOT EAT RICE, IT KILLS!!!!
Thanks so much
Willa

Rice swells once it hits the stomach juices and can cause alot of pain. I took 2 bites of rice about 3 months after surgery, did not chew them very well and ate them too close together and thought I was having a heart attack the pain was so bad. Luckily I was at home, made myself throw up and laid down for a while then felt better. It was almost 2 years after that before I ate any rice again. Remember to take very small bites, chew it up very well and wait for several mins. between bites to give it time to pass through your pouch area.
