OMG, I am so sorry!  That must have been devastating!  What exactly did the denial letter say, did they give a reason?

It is very common for the insurance companies to give denials in the beginning, You have to do appeals...

The denial letter said ( based on hte information provided by the requesting provider/physician, you do not meet the established medical necessity criteria or guidelines for the above noted services at this time) I dont know what to do.

There was no reason on the back of the letter or anything?

I received a denial letter. But it was because my doctors office submitted a "pre-approval" first. So I didnt complete any of my requirements before it was submited. After compleating all of the insurance requirements, I am in the appeals process right now, they have up to 30 days to give me an answer on my appeal.

What did your denial say? Maybe its something as simple as compleating an insurance requirement.

Hmm... that is so weird!  Did your doctor give you any indication that you didn't meet the criteria?  BMI over 40, comorbidities, etc.?

I'm so sorry.  I, of course, can't tell you what to do, but if it were me I would try to find out exactly what the criteria are to qualify with the insurance company, then contact my doctor.  I'm sure you can appeal, I think you just need to be armed with all the info you can possibly get.

Hang in there and keep on trying; I truly believe that if having surgery is the right thing for you, it will happen.  I'm sorry, it must be so upsetting!
