Latest on my battle with Health Net for Reconstructive Surgery
There was a hearing today in my Class Action suit against HN, in response to HN's attempt to get the case thrown out. We won. HN has to finally produce their documents in response to our discovery request. Depositions to follow.
I think I'll go have a few more PS consults and see what I would like them to pay for, and with whom.
Note: this case is specific to California.

You have to send me your email address so I can send you the template letter with the quotes from the CA statute, which your sister's PS has to fill out with her information and codes for the procedures she needs, etc., as well as attesting to the fact that she has abnormal structures of the body, caused by a disease, for which reconstructive surgery can improve her appearance to the extent possible (note: no medical necessity or even functional improvement required) and that such improvement will be more than minimal.
If she has a PPO, she can see anyone she feels she can afford, based oh whether they are in or out of network.

To be clear -- the case isn't over yet. We won against Health Net's second attempt to have the case thrown out, or to delay the resolution. The judge ordered them to produce the documents that were requested in discovery motions filed in May. We're not there yet, but the tide has turned against Health Net.
There is a companion case against Health Net pending at the Dept. of Managed Health Care which is going very slowly (I have been told that the DMHC has conspired with Health Net to slow down my case as a reward for Health Net conceding in another, unrelated case). But that DMHC case will have even broader repercussions for ALL CA insurance companies, so while I am frustrated to some extent, in the long run, it will be better for ALL Californians if the DMHC settles these issues carefully in my case.

You're a dragon-slayer and one of my heroes...congratulations!!!!! Keep the fight!!!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
