Atkins Shakes Made me SICK

My surgery was 7/31

I have had them for a few days in a row for my breakfast (I was told to supplement one shake per day for a meal).  They are very tasty - the best I have tried so far, but for some reason, about 10 minutes after I had one I got really sick.  I was at the grocery store with dh and son and had to go to the car and was flush, sick to my stomach and went home and slept for 2 hours!

ACK!

Does that happen a lot - where you can have something one day and be fine, then the next it make you ill?  Maybe I'm becoming Lactose intolerant, I dunno....

So sorry to hear this.  You have to keep trying 'til you find one you can handle.  For convenience, I like the WorldWide protein shakes that come in a can.  They pack a whopping 35 grams of protein.  Here's a link ~ http://www.pendapacific.com/shop/pure-protein-shake-frosty-chocolate-11-fl-oz-by-worldwide-sports-nutrition.html  I get mine at Trader Joe's or Vitamin Shoppe.  I love the chocolate one added to my coffee!

Another  thing to look at is the sugar grams. Some that you can buy at the store have way too  much sugar. I used to drink worldwide... then I went to isopure... now I blend my own. It may take a little while to find the right one for you, but you will.

And yes, it can happen where one day things are fine and the next day they aren't. I had that trouble early out with chicken, water, tortillas. It may have happened with other things but those stand out, it was a 50/50 gamble everytime.

I Love the Atkins shakes and use them everyday.  They only have about 1 gram of
sugar so I'm not sure why they made you sick.  You may have to try several before
finding ones that work for you.  The best thing is to order samples before buying
a large amount.

Good Luck on your surgery, I too was a type II diabetic with sugars out of control
as well and I left the hospitial after surgery and never had a problem again with
my sugars and no longer take medication.  I still test once a week and my blood
sugars run 89 to 91 so trust me when I tell you that the surgery works in many
ways.

Atkins shakes have 9 grams of fat, which makes me "sleepy-barfy" dump. I don't actually barf, but I feel like crap and cannot function at all for at least 2 hours.

I had a leftover one in the fridge today and the same reaction, and it has been >3 months for me.
