So it's officially been three weeks since my WLS but today I messed up big time guys...........I have had this huge struggle watching my family eat while I'm restricted to Liquids, soft boiled eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt. I know this is one of my biggest obsticles but today was a serious moment of weakness. I ate a COOKIE and suffered some serious dumping. I'm trying to focus on other things other than food but appear to be surrounded by it no matter what. I've been doing my half hour walking sessions at night. Should I do more? I could really use some advise if you guys have any

Thanks
Kristine

Hi Kristine. Are there other soft foods you can eat? maybe you need more of a variety. Those first few weeks are the hardest, but it does get easier.
Maybe for the time being your family could keep all those tempting foods out of the house. Explain to them how you need for them to help you get thru this. When they are eating dinner, go for your walk, or get on the computer and check out the message boards. Good luck...

It is NOT EASY ... Just the idea of dumping scares me enough that I don't want to take any chances. But believe me, there have been moments of temptation! In the three months since my surgery, I have seen at least three cakes come into my work - nevermind pies, cookies, and candy! When we go down to the Homicide office to get a Gatorade or a bottle of water, it KILLS ME that I have to walk by the box of miniature candy bars that are two for 25 cents. I just have to keep reminding myself of what's going to happen if I give in to the temptation. The scale is also a great motivator - I like watching it go down, and I want to KEEP watching it go down! I know people think I am weird, but I have been known to eat baby food when I want something sweet. The fruits and custards taste really good to me - they're not overly sweet, and they're healthy. What more could we ask for? :-) I think keeping the cookies and other junk food out of the house is probably the best thing you can do. And try to expand your soft/pureed food horizons a little so you don't get bored. You WILL get through this! You can do it!
