Hiya Crysti!
Good luck with your surgery!!  :O)  the 6 month diet is the requirement of my PCP's medical group and NOT Health Net, so I think your safe.  :O)

Actually it IS in the Health Net guide thingy, regarding Gastric Bypass surgery.  That is why it is my fear that they'll make me do it and because I don't have any co-morbidities YET...  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed over here, lol

Hummm that's weird because I called HN and asked if they have a required diet and they said "NO".  So I wonder if that's just the difference between the PPO and HMO?

No no no, it's not required, BUT they CAN make you do it if they feel like it.  I have the fear they will make me do it, because I'm not "sick" YET... but we shall see.

I called HN and asked for info on the coverages for gastric bypass and they emailed me a packet to go over.  Says what's required to be approved etc etc.  Its very confusing too... we shall see :)

Thank you for that!

That puts my mind at ease somewhat, lol If the above is correct, then howcome some of these people HAVE to do the diet, how do the companies get away with that?  Is it the difference between HMO & PPO?

I'm going to stop worrying now, at least try!!

Thanks so much!

Dr. Krahn is awesome awesome awesome!!!  I had my surgery with him in January, have been seeing him for just over a year, I cannot say enough good about him and his staff.  He also does seminars at Parkview Hospital's Founders Center on the first Tuesday of each month, and usually joins our support group afterwards for questions and talks.

I looked at his profile here on OH, and I see several of his patients had HealthNet, so I would imagine they still take it.

Actually, I just called his office, they DO take HealthNet, so hope this helps!
