No loss in a week!! HELP.

I am 4 weeks post op and lost 27 pounds in the first 3 weeks, but haven't lost a thing in the last week.  Considering how little I eat, I am very discouraged.  Also....unless I have some carbs, I become light-headed and really weak.  My doctor says to eat mostly protein, but have had to add fruit and bread to help the weakness.  Do either of these things seem unusual to anyone?

[I tried following the Atkins Diet before surgery, but due to the problems with trying to go without carbs, had to abort it.  I was pre-diabetic before going in for my RNY...  I don't see the doctor again for another week.]

WOW a whole week??? OMG!

I am sorry, but if you read any post on this site or had a class before surgery, you will know that this happens and its normal. At this time your body is catching up with the loss. This is very normal. But on the other hand, if you are not eating enough you wont loss weight. How many cal. did your doc tell you to get in? Are you following your docs set rule about what to eat at this point? (every doc has thier own rules) IF you are doing everything right and as your doc say. Then give your body this time to catch up.

27 pounds in 3 weeks is a lot. 9 pounds a week. SHOOT!!! Thats alot. Relax, breath and if you are doing what your doc says. Then give you body time to catch up.

Just my 2 cents.

I know....27 in 3 weeks is nuts, huh?  I guess you are right, I need to let everything normalize.  It's just I was getting used to that much weight coming off....  Thank you so much for your encouragement.

Fruit and bread are not generally in a doctors protocal 3 weeks after surgery. I would call your doctor even though you have a week before you see him. Maybe he can counsel you on what to do.

WTG on the 27 pds!!! Bounce

I agree with Janine, my doctors, all the books and research I have done, that carbs are not to be tried for a very long time.  Some of the books say 6 months.  I would for sure contact your doctor's nurse or your nutritionist and get a specific plan.  Mine says 60-90 grams of protien, eat protien first and nothing to drink 30 min before or 30 min after eating food.  I would definatly call the doctor now that I think about it.  Good luck and congrats on the 27 lbs.

Quit weighing yourself!!! I only weighed the first year at my Dr appts...Too much anxiety comes with that damn scale. Relax and let it be, the weight WILL come off..
