Dr. Coates Patients
I was called by one of the office girls, within a day or so and was scheduled for my surgery date. At the time, (four years ago) I was on the table, getting my RNY within a couple of weeks. How long it takes now, who knows! Anyway, congratulations!! I'm scooting over, making room on the losers bench for ya!
Gina, Congratulations on being approved. When I had my first consult with the PA I was told it could be a couple of weeks but since I have medicare I was told I would be on a waiting list till about Jan 2009. I just had my Psych eval last monday and all I have to do is to finish my 3 month dr supervised diet they I will get submitted.
I hope you get a date and have your surgery super fast. I will keep my fingers crossed. Sue

A while back Medicare made some changes and if surgeons wanted to accept medicare patients they had to make the changes and be certified as a center of excellance. That happened two years ago so Dr Coates had patients that have been waiting for two years. Also they are only allowed to do so many at a given time I think it was two a week. Sue

Hi Gina,
If you don't hear from them within a couple of days, call the office and ask to speak to Hilary about scheduling a date. Depending on what their calendar looks like, you could probably be booked anywhere between a couple of weeks and a month or so. Good luck! By the way- heads up- don't expect to meet or see Dr. Coates other than at your Pre-Op appt with him (about a week before surgery). He is harder to catch than the plague. But I guess as long as he is surgically compentent, I don't care... If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me.
