PLATEAU? : (

I had RNY WLS on 5/5/08. Had complications and a second surgery on 6/16/08. I started my journey at 227.5lbs on 7/20/07. Day of surger #1 I was 209. Today I weigh 157.

I am so happy that I have been able to lose so much weight & now I have been complication free for over 1 month.

I have been stuck between 157 - 159 for almost 4 weeks. Now I know that we have these plateaus and that eventually my weight loss should pick back up.  I'm just concerned that I am not at a plateau but stuck at this weight FOREVER! lol

So, please give me advise on how to get loosing again & / or how to tell if this is a plateau or if this is as small as I am going to be!

Thanks for the responses!

Sara,
You're doing such a great job, you won't be at this plateau for long. You lost so quickly in the beginning because of the complications, your body is probably just trying to catch up!
Are you going to the meeting on the 7th?

I will be there! NO MATTER WHAT! I am making my husband get off work early so that I can make it.  R u going to be there?

I miss going to them. I miss Bev. I like the way she does the group better than the way Liz does it. I hope that Bev. is back soon.

I was thinking that I had hit a plateau but I was not sure. I heard people say that it last for a week or so. Ive been stuck here for almost 1 month. That seemed a bit long to me.  I have to start doing more exercise so I can lose the rest fast.  I want to be at or close to 125 - 130 before my 7 year wedding anniverary in November.  I think I can get there if I could just start loosing again.....

Thanks! & I hope 2 see u at group.

I will be there. Liz has been leading the meetings which is really nice.
You will be there by November - don't worry! I have hit a couple of plateaus and at the meetings I was told that we REALLY start dropping the lbs in the 3-6 month period.
You are doing so great Sara, don't be so hard on yourself. If you lose weight too fast, your skin won't have a chance to catch up with the weight loss!

Are you drinking your 5 thousand gallons of water per day? Are you pmsing which might stall you?

No PMSing I did start taking my BC because my . was all over the place. & REALLY BAD! So, that has been fixed. As for the water - I probably dont get the entire amount in I should every day. It was easy 4 me to drink a gallon+ of water before surgery.  Now I have no want for food or water. I have to force myself to eat  & drink Still! LOL  I love that. I will start paying more attention to the water so I can see if that is the reason for the slow down of weight loss.

Liz isn't that bad I just prefer Bev. I miss her! ; )

No worries I remember those plateaus during the 3rd and 4 month, I bet your losing inches and thats real good. My suggestion at 7 months out is really watch your carb intake. Everytime I increase my carbs I never loose weight for weeks. Silly me wasnt counting the carbs in watermelon, and its really high as most fruit is. Really watch your carbs!
Your doing GREAT!!!

THANKS SO MUCH!!!  I bet that it is the carbs.  Around the time I stoped losing weight I had started eating canteloupe. I'm officially addicted! They are so sweet & yummy.  I will have to either cut it out completley or limit myself to smaller quantities each time or only 1-3 times a week instead of daily.  LOL

I never use to be a big fruit eater either. I use to hate fruit. It's funny how things change.

Thanks for the help.  & one other thing - It's not that I am unhappy at 157, I just want to get to the end of the weight loss so I can go on a shopping spree. Now I buy peice by peice. As the need arrises. I want to stay 1 size so I can buy clothes that will fit me for longer than a few weeks. LOL

My ideal weight would be between 120 - 130. I think that the BMI chart says I could actually get to 105. NO THANK U! That is a bit to small 4 me!

Thanks again for the replies. I really appreciate them all!
