I hear 3 weeks up to 6 weeks.  I have a desk job but very fast pace and demanding.

For Gastric bypass, I know lots of people who work desk jobs that are back to work in 2-3 weeks. I work on my feet all day, and needed a minimum of 5 weeks, and that would have really been pushing it. I went back in 6 weeks. If you have to be perky and you won't have time to rest when necessary, I think you should take at LEAST 3 weeks, if not 4. I got tired really fast up to 5 weeks.

Hi Tami,

I too have a desk job and I went back to work in 1.5 weeks. I went back to work on a Wednesday so it wouldn't be a full week and I also worked shorter days. By the following Monday (which would have been 2 weeks) I was back in the swing of things.

Please remember everyone is different as is every job. Follow your doctor's protocol and you will be fine.

Good luck to you.
Sue

I took five days off, but I really took it easy when I went back.  I was fine with that. Everyone is different.

I had my surgery on a Wed.  so I took the rest of that week off, had one full week and now I will be returning to work on this Wed.  I feel like I could probably go back tomorrow, but I don't want to pu**** Plus I wanted to have my first preop appointment with the surgeon before I went back.

Again, everyone is different.

Thanks everybody..sounds like it's all about how you are feeling and recover from the surgery.  Plan for the worst and hope for the best..:)

Everyone is different, but I might suggest that if you feel like going back go with the condition from your boss that you can leave if it gets too overwhelming or you can just take a break!

I did not have to worry myself because I am teacher and had it done in the summer time.

Good luck! Bounce

Good Morning Tami

For Fremont patients the standard is 4 weeks, when I tried to go back in 2 weeks he told me to relax, and use the extra 2 weeks to begin my exercise routine, start with short walks 2-3 times a day and build from there. I wasn't allowed to do my routine gym activities till my 6th week, but could elliptical for 10 minutes or so and of course treadmill.

Take your 4 weeks and enjoy the time to get adjusted to your diet and exercise routine. We all know, once we walk through the doors at work, it get's to be non-stop.

I have a fast paced, high profile desk job, and I was back to work after 1.5 weeks. Any longer and I would have gone nutso.
