Tomorrow is the Day!

Tomorrow at this time my surgery should be done.  I spoke to the hospital today and they have changed my time from 7:30 to 12:30.  I was not happy about that as I am a morning person and I fear I will die of thirst if I don't drin****il 12:30.  They told me they take the diabetics first.  I don't know if this is good news or bad news, but I guess I have to put my "fat girl" panties on for the last time and deal with it!  lol     My best friend wants so badly to be here for my surgery, but she has non-refundable tickets to New York and has had this trip planned for over 6 months.   But I will be in contact with her via phone and I know she will be calling my house constantly until she can make sure I am doing o.k.  She is an amazing lady.  I called my doctor and asked if I have to to that bowel cleaning thing and they said don't bother unless I am constipated.  I am not so I am not going to do that.  I am packing my bag this evening and have my list of things to bring.
1.  pillow
2.  Blanket
3.  Chapstick
4.  Jamas/undies
5.  Robe
6.  Running shoes (for my planned escape)
7.  My husband
8.  Magazines/Books
9.  Sense of humor

I think that should cover me.  If I forget something then I will just have to do without.  Not a big deal.  I found out my husband can stay with me the whole time and I have not decided if I want that or not.  He snores horribly.  But it is also a 2 hour drive home.  So I am on the fence really.  I guess we shall play it by ear, as I can always send him home or to my freinds house if he is driving me nuts.    She is not that far from the hospital.  My husband does not do well without me, and he is worried to death.  Anything anyone else can think of?  If you have any ideas let me know.

Good luck and congratulations! Bummer about getting pushed back to a later slot, but, as long as it happens, thats all that really matters!!

I took magazines and whatnot with me but I never even took them out of the bag they came in...I slept most of the time and watched a little TV.

About DH snoring, you might not even notice it...I had a room full of people for most of the evening when I had mine and slept through a LOT...LOL. Also, the nurses come in and wake you up a lot at night, so it's not like you are getting good solid sleep anyway.

I will be watching for the post letting us all know that you are a loser tomorrow!

Good luck!

My hospital requires you to also bring your insurance card and photo ID.

Others have said a toothbrush and paste are helpful.

Hoping for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery for you.

And a big 'ol Thank You to all of you who are sending Rhonda off to surgery tomorrow with good wishes and prayers.  I thank you so much, I remember how much it meant to me (10 months ago tomorrow!!)

As I told Rhonda, I'm attending a memorial service tomorrow at 2 for a co-workers Mom who passed away after a long illness.  I told her to tell her son just to leave a message on my voice mail on my cell as most likely he'll call when I'm in it.  I'll post just as soon as I can!
Go Rhonda!!  We send you off with lots of love and support!  xo
Thank you very much everyone!
Kim
