Hello to everyone in sunny Californ-I-A!  I finally got my orientation appointment...Aug 24th at Fremont Kaiser. (so excited) Thank you everyone for the wonderful advice, without it I'd probably still be waiting! (LOL) And a million "Thank You's" to Keesh, she is awesome!  So, now all I need to do is lose the 10% Kaiser requires, does anyone have any sugestions? I know good ol' fashion excercise will work but does any have meal plans, etc.  Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.

Gracias,
Monica

Hey Monica!

I too am a Kaiser Fremont patient.......you'll love the staff there, they are great. But, I will tell you that they are more packed than ever before. When I got approved for my surgery there were 900 patients in the program...they now have 3,000!! This may sound like an oxymoron, but be patient, AND persistent. It will pay off.

As for diets, I did the 1,200 calorie/exercise 4-5 times a week thing, and the lbs came off pretty easily. Drink lots of water too, it helps!

Blessings to you,
Janel

Hi Monica, I am schedule to go to a "infomation" class on August 12th at Kaiser Santa Clara. Then I have to back to my doctor toget the refferal. I know she will give it to me since I am 5'3, 250lbs, BMI 44%, but I still have to through the process.  From what I hear my two choices will be Fremont or SSF and the programs are very different.  I am suprised to hear it took you so long to get the orientation appointment. Can you tell about program in Fremont ? How long will you have to wait to have the actual surgery?  I nice to know I'm not the only that is anxious to get the ball rolling. I seems once I decided to do this...it can't happen soon enough..lol!  Tami in Milpitas.

Hi Tammi,
So far I have been hearing nothing but good things about the program at Fremont Kaiser. You can do a search here on OH websiste, just type in "Fremont Kaiser". I found a lot of good information. My Doctor had to "resubmit" my refferal but once she resubmited my refferal it only took about a week. I went online to check if the appt was made and sure enough, it was there!  Kaiser will either assign you to Richmond, Fremont or SSF. At the orientation they will schedule your next appt. (3-4 weeks) From what I've heard/read it can take anywhere from 4mo-6mo to a year to get your surgery date. It all depends on you and when you lose the 10% of your body weight Kaiser requires. Please post whatever questions you have on this forum and trust me, someone will do their best to help you. Everyone here has been such a great help to me.

Welcome to the Cali board!
