Waiting for Pacific Bariatrics

Hello,  I've been reading the forums on OH for a couple of weeks now and this is my first post.  I was just wondering for those of you who went to PB...How long did it take for the office to call you back with a surgery date after your consults.  I had my consults on 7/8 and all three specialists gave me the green light.  I'm a Kaiser Options patient so there are no insurance issues.  I'm sure you've been in my shoes and know what I'm going through...I'm just soooooo anxious.  I don't want to keep call Pacific Bariatrics....they might get mad and put me at the bottom of the pile    

Any feedback will be great.  I just want some idea of when I can expect a call.  By the way, everyone on here is so great.  I will truly rely on you all for support as I make this journey. 

Hi!  Congrats on making it this far!  : )  I wasn't Kaiser, but there are a few people on here who are Kaiser folks who had PB.  For me, once they called me and said that I was approved, they asked me for some possible dates.  I called them back the next day after discussing it w/my bosses and then they called me back and told me Oct 1!  I purposely wanted to hold off at least a month to get everything in order at work.  I didn't notice where you live, if you're in the SD area or coming from a ways away.  PacBar is wonderful and Scripps Mercy is a terrific hospital.  Don't be shy about calling PacBar and bugging....they're used to it....take good care and welcome to the board and congrats on coming out of lurking mode...LOL  Kim

Hi there, I'm a Kaiser Option patient too. I graduated from my classes in January '08 and had surgery on April 29th. It can take about 4-8 weeks to get a date, depending on how far in advanced they are scheduled. It took me a little longer because I had to have an Upper G.I to rule out a certain procedure when I had a hernia repair in 1985. Hope this helps. Good luck in your journey. Hi sweetie and welcome to the Cali board!! I too am a Zorn baby and had Kaiser. I finished my classes in Feb. and had surgery in May. I think it was about a month after the 3 appointments that I got my date and it was 10 days till surgery!!!
I wouldn't worry about calling and bugging them though, they are use to it and don't get mad!!!
Do you live in San Diego or are you traveling down here for your surgery? You will love Scripps Mercy, the bariatric floor nurses are the best! And Zorn uses his wife (Becky) as his surgery nurse and she is so sweet!!!  You are in great hands, I'm very excited for you!!
We are here for you, just let us know what you need! You are so going to love this wild ride, but make sure and buckle in!! lol

I had Pacific Bariatric's as well, and i am a Kaiser patient.  My class all got in pretty quick for our appointments.  I finished class on May 1.  Had my three appointments on May 6.  They called on May 19 to check on dates that would work for me, and i got my date on May 21.  Surgery was June 13.  It all goes pretty quick, but to answer your question, it was about two weeks after my appointments that i got my date.  So it should be soon for you.  On a side note, when Becky Dr. Zorn's wife came out and introduced herself, i asked if she was Dr. Zorns wife and she told me someone was telling stories and said that she was and it was love at first site.  She was great, Dr. Zorn was great, you will be in the best hands.  Good luck!!

I am doing awesome.  I am just enjoying the ride.  I had my one month check up last week, i am down 37 pounds and my vitamin levels were good, so definitely can't complain.  I know we are going to the reunion in October.  If we get down there before then i will make sure i let you know with plenty notice, i wanted to meet you last month so eventually we will. :)  Thanks for being so helpful and checking on me!.  You are the best.

P.S.  I had been wanting to tell you the story about when i met Dr. Zorn's wife forever and i just kept forgetting.  I told her that you told me and that you said she was the sweetest person and not to worry i was in great hands. :)

 Hi, after my appointments, they told me I would hear in 3 weeks, but I heard back in 10 days. My surgery was scheduled within 3 weeks of that date. I was told that the surgeons have vacation planned already and they are trying to squeeze everyone in this summer. Good luck!
