News after 1st PS follow up

Yesterday I had my 1st of many follow up appointments with my plastic surgeon.  The bandages were removed and all the incissions look good.  My drains were removed as well as the pain pump.  (OH MY did that hurt  )  I have a cross on my belly where it is predicted that they removed about 20lbs of skin and tissue. (but I still have a belly button  )  I am actually under more strict orders now that the bandages are off.  I dont have any staples, or external stitches, I am glued!  So I have to be extremely careful with things so that I do create a wound sore or bust the internal stitches.  (Doug is loving that because he gets to tell me to SIT a lot more)  I have been told NO DRIVING for at least a couple more weeks and even then to proceed with caution as any accident will literally split me in half.  Absolutely no lifting what so ever... bummer don't get to help with the move...lol.   I looked at my tummy last night and that was an extreme blow to me .  I am swollen, I have horrible looking incisssions and emotionally broke down in tears last night.  I knew it was going to be bad, but I guess I wasn't really ready for how bad.  On a brighter note, I already have an inward curve to my waist  and I am extremely swollen so I am excited to see what it will look like when it is all said and done.  The doctor projects I wont really get an idea of what the end results will be for about 4 months.  He wants me to wear my binder/ girdle for at least 6 months as he has seen it help redistribute things better and tighten up skin on the sides he was unable to take as this was not a tummy tuck but essentially an organ removal.  So like with my gastric by pass I am following doctors orders to the letter  .  The doctor is so fabulous and even called to check on my twice last week after the surgery.  He is quite proud of his work too so if he is proud I know that it will get better.    Alright, I am off to rest in my recliner and then homework.  Feel free to email  me as it doesnt look like I'll be getting out for a while without my personal "nurse" Doug.

OH LONI

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU, NOW DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE TOLD TO DO. YOU WANT TO KEEP HEALING PERFECTLY. I AM SO ENVIOUS BUT STILL SO HAPPY FOR YOU. YOU HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD TO GET WHERE YOU ARE AND DESERVE TO KEEP GETTING THAT CURVE IN YOUR WAIST.

DON'T BE SAD AND CRY WHEN YOU SEE THOSE SCARS, IF THAT DR. IS SO GOOD AS HE SOUNDS AND TO CALL YOU, IT SOUNDS LIKE HE TAKES PRIDE IN HIS WORK, SO I HAVE A FEELING THAT THOSE INSCISSIONS WILL ALL DISSAPEAR AND YOU WILL LOOK AWESOME

 TAKE CARE AND BEHAVE.
MUCH LOVE MY FRIEND

Oh I know.... Just wasnt expecting what I saw.  They told me that the inscissions would be bad but I really wasnt ready for what I saw, and then I went into "fat mind" and thought how could my husband want to look at my body the way it looked.  It amazed me that even after 4 years of being "skinny" that I automatically went back to my fat mind set.
My Hubby comforted me tho and actually said it looks really good... He can see beyond the inscissions.   He also said that being almost 3 years out himself, he still sees "fat boy" in the mirror .... even though he is extremely skinny!

Thanks for the kind words, I will keep ya posted on the goings on.... but until I can look at the tummy without winching, I will not take pictures

AW LONI

I'M SO GLAD THAT YOU HAVE A HUBBY THAT UNDERSTANDS JUST WHAT YOUR GOING THRU.

TAKE THIS FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, BUT YOU MAY WANT TO RETHINK TAKING THOSE PICTURES. ONE DAY YOU MIGHT WANT TO REMIND YOURSELF OR SHOW FAMILY OR FRIENDS OF JUST HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME AND HOW HARD YOU HAVE WORKED TO LOOK THE WAY YOU DO.

ALSO IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE JUST HOW WONDERFUL A JOB YOUR DR. DID. YOU KNOW YOU DON'T NEED TO LOOK AT THEM NOW, JUST HAVE HUBBY TAKE THEM AND PUT THEM AWAY. I KNOW I WOULD NO MATTER WHAT I LOOKED LIKE. I WISH I HAD TAKEN MORE BEFORE AND AFTER WLS PICTURES.

I WOULD HATE FOR YOU NOT TO HAVE DOCUMENTED EVERY STEP OF YOUR JOURNEY, AND ONE DAY SIT BACK AND BE SO PROUD PLEASED AND KNOW THAT YOU NEVER WANT TO GO THERE AGAIN AND HAVE NO PICTURES TO LOOK AT.

JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT. YOU DO WHAT YOU NEED TO BUT TRY TO SEE IT AS JUST ANOTHER STEP IN YOUR JOURNEY TO HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE STREAMS OF HAPPY TEARS AGAIN, JUST LIKE YOU DID WHILE YOU WERE LOOSING ALL THE WEIGHT.

ONE DAY YOU WILL BE THE LONI YOUR ARE WORKING SO HARD FOR.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN MY FRIEND. I'M SO GLAD YOU ARE SHARING ALL OF YOUR JOURNEY WITH US.

MUCH LOVE MY FRIEND
