Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

You really don’t need anything for 9 miles, but it’s a good time to start testing things out for your even longer runs.  Definitely start adding in the Gatorade instead of water.  You need the extra salt and potassium.  You should also start experimenting with Gu or Sport Beans.  Take one a couple miles into the run and see how you feel.

Have fun tonight and let me know how you feel after.  And when your out there….make sure you remember that if you weren’t so lazy yesterday, you would’ve had company for those 9 miles!  LOL

I didn’t mean it wasn’t a long run…LOL  Your body doesn’t really need anything additional on a 9 mile run.  Even in a ½ marathon most people don’t need anything more than some Gatorade and maybe a salt packet.  It’s when you’re running 3+ hours that you really need to be concerned about re-fueling.

And trust me….someday you will consider 9 miles your “short run”!  LOL

I don't say it enough, but thank you for being my friend and a constant source of encouragement.  I feel so much better after taking the salt and having a protein drink. :)
