Hi Kitty,

Just like with so many other things, each surgeon is different with what they want us to take.

I take: 1000mg Calicium Citrate, mulitvitamin, sublingual B12 everyday. - My multivite are chewable and the B12 disolves.

I've had to take other medications for other things and have never had trouble with pill form. My surgeon even gave me vicodin pills for post op pain and i didn't have trouble with those either. Some people do have trouble with pills at first, I was lucky.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery.

Sue

Liquid vitamins don't upset my stomach so I've gone that way.

Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Citrate, 1/2 Tbl  3x/day

Tropical Oasis Tropical  Plus Liquid Multi-Vitamins, 2Tbl/day

Tropical Oasis Liquid B-12, 5ml/day

Liquid vitamins offer a good solution to daily vitamins for WLS patients. No pills to swallow (several pills twice daily), and the cost is probably cheaper than buying several supplements. You can get liquid calcium citrate too. You can order online or find most vitamins locally. The liquid vitamin I like is noted on my profile page. My D levels were low, score of 8 on first labs. Normal is 30-100. I took prescription D three different times, and the resulting labs only reached 14. On the liquid vitamins for 7 months, my 2 year labs showed a level of 33, with no other D supplement. So liquid vitamins are absorbed better than pilled vitamins too. Labs are the only way to determine how your vitamins are absorbed by your body. Most patients will test low on vitamin D, so don't be surprised if your tests are low too. I now supplement with a 5000 IU of D twice daily, as current research shows that levels of D above 70 minimize chances of health issues for short levels of D. These issues include MS, many forms of cancer, absorption of your calcium citrate, bone fractures, breast cancer, auto immune diseases, and neurological disorders. DAVE
