Update on Me...
Hey all,
Well here it is Sunday morning, five days after my life altering surgery and all I can say is WOW. It is already obvious that the doctor went above and beyond what he was "suppose" to do, because despite swelling, I am already pretty flat. (was just suppose to have a panniculetomy and monectomy) The first night was rough so we called the doctor and got a stronger pain medication and that seems to of helped (now that we have it regulated so I am not loopy). The pain pump that I was sent home with is just about out so the numbing meds that have been pumping to the incisions is dwindling and therefore my pain is increasing. And of course, if you know me at all, because I was feeling really good yesterday, I did some menial chores which of course ended up being very very bad for me. I did them while Doug went to the store to get me some stuff because I haven't been wanting to eat (found that drinking a juice it up drink with added protein keeps me from feeling nauseous). He was soooo worried when he found out that I had done that that he was reluctant to go to work today. So as Doug is on his way to work, I am under strict orders not to do anything other than sit in my chair, work on my computer, nap and eat!
Despite the pain, I actually feel pretty good. I am really mobile, conscious (well most of the time), and actually want to eat (and for me that is a big deal). Last night I slept in my bed rather then the recliner chair and man did that feel good. Doug put a pillow in between us so he wouldn't bump me, he is too sweet. He has taken care of my drains and they are slowing in the amount of fluid and turning clear. Doug is a bit surprised at how well I am doing, but I told him I heal quickly and have the mindset I have too.
Thanks to all of you who have brought us meals over the last few days, they have been wonderful and for my children to eat ... they were really good (they are super picky despite my efforts to not make them so). Thanks Linda, for coming and getting a couple of my kiddos for church, I certainly appreciate that a lot. I have a follow up on Tuesday at 10 am, I also have an ortho-tech appointment in which I am getting fitted for my new knee brace and scheduled for PT (trying to avoid another surgery). Doug will be taking me to those appointments. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband who sacrifices for me and the kids, and to have such friends and family who'll help out in anyway possible.
I will update again soon, off to nap as my meds are kicking in and I am falling asleep writing this.

Monectomy is the removal of excess skin in the pubis area. I carried my weight in my middle so the majority of my excess skin was in my stomach and pubis area... I had so much of a hang in my pubis area that it looked like it belonged on the opposite sex (get what I mean)
