Mishelle...good morning and congrats on having your surgery accomplished!

I'm not sure that I understand what you wrote...you are only 5 days out, and eating 3 oz of chicken? Did you have RNY? I know each doctor has their own set of rules about post-op eating, but I was on liquids for three WEEKS following surgery...then pureed, then slowly eased into eating "regular" foods...

Perhaps you had lapband...and I know that's a whole other type of eating/recovery.

The pain on your left side (if you had RNY) is typical...but it could be even more painful if you put too much into your pouch too soon...

Anyway... just wanted to respond... hope it all goes well for you!

Glad your doing good.  Don't forget things like egg salad or tuna salad.  I would add a small amount of low fat mayo and mustard and some Mt. Olive sugar free pickle relish (made with Splenda).  You can find it at Safeway I think.  Also a small amount of salt and pepper to those salads...Good eats.  Just a thought on the depression (beside the "what have I done to myself" we all faced).  Remember that as the fat cells get smaller all the hormones that have been in those cell get released.  Depression is very common for post WLS and it usually passes.  Consult your doctor concerning that area and to keep an eye on it.  Enjoy the weightloss and hang on for the ride.  Brian
