HELP MY HAIR
After taking Biotin for 2 weeks now, the hair loss is still the same. I have been told Nioxin (sp) works good, and I goggled "Hair loss from Gastric Bypass" and some said that Silica Complex by Puritan's Pride worked good for her.
I want something to help faster than the Biotin is.........
What is working for you?
Thanks, Annabelle
ANNABELLE,
IF YOU FIND IT LET ME AND A THOUSAND OTHERS KNOW. IF YOUR ONE OF THE UNLUCKY ONES TO HAVE THE THINNING AND MORE THE BEST YOU CAN DO IS TO KEEP TAKING YOUR BIOTIN AND DON'T STRESS AS THAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS ALSO. I DIDN'T COLOR MINE OR ANYTHING TILL IT STARTED TO GROW BACK IN.
I STARTED TAKING BIOTIN RIGHT AFTER SURGERY AND USED NIOXIN SHAMPOO AND SCALP THERAPY, AND I WAS GLAD I DID. I CAN'T BEGIN TO THINK HOW THIN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HAD I NOT. ALTHOUGH WHEN IT CAME BACK IN IT WAS HEALTHIER AND GREW FASTER AND WAS THICKER.. BIOTIN IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK IN 2 WEEKS.
I AM STILL TAKING IT AS I REALLY LOVE THE WAY MY SKIN HAIR AND NAILS LOOK AFTER ALMOST 4 YEARS. BUT I NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IN 6 MONTHS. LIKE THEY TOLD ME, START A TREND AND WEAR A HAT, OR GET IT CUT IN A CUTE SHORTER CUT.
TAKE CARE AND HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND. AND DON'T STRESS ABOUT IT, IT DOES GROW BACK. I PROMISE!
OH AND DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER, IT CURES MANY MANY THINGS.
hair loss can be a really traumatic s/e from the surgery. i'm sorry you're experiencing it. i'm still pre-op but i have been taking biotin for almost 3 months, the 2500 mcg dose from gnc. it took about 1.5 months, but my hair started growing faster, stronger and thicker than before. any oral medication you take for hair loss will take a month (approx) to see an effect and 3 months to reach maximum effect.
i've stocked up on some supplements my dr's office recommends in addition to the biotin: zinc, evening primrose oil and coenzyme q10.
*hugs* hang in there and remember your protein. you will get through this and it WILL grow back!
Annabelle,
I took Biotin before my surgery and am still taking everyday (8.5mnths, post-op). I had hair loss from 3 months until I was 6 months out, but I didn't freak out about it. I just kept taking my vitamins and used the nioxin shampoo and scalp treatment. It works really well. Just don't stress it will come back in.
Hi Annabelle,
I hardly have any hair at all and I really freaked out when mine starting coming out. I took 5,000 mcgs of Biotin a day and it happened. One thing is to make sure you get at least 60 grams of protein in and all of you vitamins.
Hair growns in 3 month cycles so you will see new hair growth coming in sooner than you know it. You will just love the new short hairs poking up. ;) I ended up cutting my short hair even shorter and bought some thickening shampoos and products that give the look that my hair was thicker. Good Luck!
Lauren
P.S. When I started complaining about my hair loss to a friend at work, she brought in pictures of her getting her head shaved after losing a lot after her chemo treatments. It gave me a whole different perspective on my hair loss. I decided I would rather be bald and healthy than be overweight and have hair.
