Medication Questions

.So I am 2 1/2 years out and I absorb some medication really fast and it effects me really easily and other medication I don't seem to absorb at all ( but not all the time).  I take allegra and sometimes it comes out the same  way it went in, just the other end.  I usually tell the doctor I am very medication sensitive since I have had my surgery, but recently, or I have just noticed, that I don't seem to be absorbing everything.  I don't know if it is because my stress is really high right now or what, but they tried giving my Lunesta to help me sleep and I could only sleep 2 hours on it, but normally any other medication has a much stronger affect on me then it should and does on anyone else.  Anyone else experience this or have  any suggestions?  I will be calling my surgereon on Monday.

ask the doc or pharmacy to see if they have the meds in chew-able or liquid.

I take a variety of medications throughout the day. They range in sizes and types, from pain meds to sleeping pills and a few in between. All my medications are crushed or opened and put in applesause. I am 5 years out and have been doing this for over a year now. This is at the recommendation of my doctors (WLS included) But it is important to ask your Dr.s and pharmacist if it is safe to do so.

Some medications do come in a liquid formula. So check with your precribing doctor. Otherwise, as your doctor how to properly administer this medication for proper absorption due to you malabsorption issues from surgery. You may also be drinking too much water too quickly after taking medication, washing it out of your pouch (assuming RNY).  If this is the issue, drink minimal amounts of water to take medication, and then wait 30 minutes or so before you drink or eat anything else.
