I am proud to report that everyone finished and looked fabulous doing it!  It was a foggy morning in Huntington Beach and a small army of OHers took on the 5k course some for the very first time.
Two of my friends met me at the starting line and were very inspired by everyone and thier weight loss stories.

Melody and her friend Kathy, Willa & James, Jenine and Harley, Christina, and myself had a fabulous time.
I took a lot of pictures, me and my friend walked/ran together. So we chatted and goofed around a lot.  So not a great race time, but a fun time for sure.

I am so proud of the first timers!!! I hope you catch the running bug!
I'll post some upcoming events in the future for those of you who are still thinking of coming out and trying a 5k, it's a fun time and a great opportunity to get some exercise.

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

I wanted to say thanks to everyone for insiring me to do this. Willa and Monica especially.  I loved it. I have to admit that as much as I work out at the gym, the front of my lower legs are still hurting me.  So was my lower back, but I think that was from dragging my little girl most of the way.  I am so proud of her.  She insisted on going, I don't think she fully realized how far it was, even after I tried to explain it to her. But she didn't give up and in fact, she went swimming later on that day without even taking a nap.  Poor old Mom had to take a snooze before she could go swimming.   James, thank you for getting her the medal.  That was very nice and it meant a lot to her. Anyway, it was nice meeting new friends and I look forward to doing another 5K real soon.  Christina, don't let those stalls get you down.  Look how far you have come and look what you just acomplished!  You did a 5K!  Monica, you do have me hooked.  I am already thinking about trying to run part of the next  one if my knees let me. WE ALL ROCKED! Laura

Janeene and I had a blast doing this, even if I ended up with some wierd blisters on my feet.  I don't usually get blisters, so it's kind of wierd. But - we finished it in just over an hour.  Janeene could have probably done it a bit faster than I did, and I probably would have went a little faster except for the blisters. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m130/MunchkinsMagik/Surf% 20City%205K/SurfCity5k001.jpg There's a picture of the gang.  I'm on the left, my wife Janeene is on the right, and to be honest, I'm horrible with names, so everyone else will have to fill in thier own.  See you all at the next LB Coffee!
