USC
i can't speak to usc in particular, but generally it is ok for patients to bring their own laptops with them. just make sure you leave it with your support person to hold on to while you are in surgery- i would not trust it to find its way from preop to my room.
i'll be spending the night after my surgery. try not to stress it too much. you'll probably be so groggy from the anesthesia and pain meds, time will pass quickly.
Do hospitals have internet access now? (I haven't stayed overnight in one since my daughter's birth 21 years ago.)
I wasn't planning on bringing a laptop, but if I would have access to OH and my email, I just might.
I'm going to be at Orange Coast Memorial. Does anyone happen to know their policy?

Julia (AKA angelsecho)
They have WiFi on the recovery floor. I took my laptop never got it out. had surgery Wednesday morning slept until 5PM after surgery, wife was there all day Mom came by after work and was there most of the evening one of buddy came by as well. Was too busy to get the laptop out. did two laps around the floor that night, went home the next morning at 11:00 AM.
The key is to get up and walk the night of surgery, there were 9 post-ops the day I was there adn only two of us got up and walked the floor that night, we were the only 2 released the next day. Everyone else had to stay an extra day.
Hopefully you get RITA for your nighttime nurse, she is the nicest nurse ever. be careful of Mamer if you get her/him. real nice but kind of strange as he/she is going through a "transition".
if you have any question feel free to PM I had surgery 1 month ago at USC, LOVE the place.
