steps till surgery

Yesterday I went for my consult and was told I prpbable will not be able to get surgery till January 2009 because there is a waiting list for my surgeon with my ins. I have to have a 3 month dr. documented weight loss effort. So it looks like I will have a new birthdate in 09. It will be a new me for a new year. I hate that I have to wait till then but that is ok because I know it will go by fast. Right now my main problem is I was recently diagnosed a diebteic and I can not lower my numbers. I eat less than 100 grams of carbs a day. So I do not understand. I see my PCP tomorrow and I will bring it up with her. Everyone here is always so very helpful.  Sue

Hi! It does go by fast. It took me a year to get mine. I was also a newly diagnosed diabetic. Don't be afraid of the meds. I took Metformin and was on insulin to get my numbers down. Now, I am on NOTHING! My BS are 95-115 all day long (down from over 200 without meds 120-130 with meds). Good luck and get as healthy as possible in the next few months!

Thank You Kim. I take Metformin and my numbers are 240 to 300. I hope I can get them down with out insulin, I do not want to take injections. I had to give them to my step mom.
