Biggest WOW moment I could ever have.....

I made a post about a week and a half ago stating I was "really doing it!", referring to my interest and desire to become a personal trainer.  I started my class on Monday of last week and had the best week ever.  On the first day, he asked us to write down what our personal goals were for the class, as well as our professional goals, and three areas of interest relating to personal training others.   He read my story about Gastric Bypass, and that I wanted to become certified as a trainer to work primarily with Obese people who are considering, or have had, or will be having WLS.  He was so excited that I was in his class, and asked me to stay after and wanted to talk with me about it.  After we talked some, he asked me "how do you feel?"  and I answered "I cant begin to answer that.  I feel amazing both emotionally and physically, but most of all, I can't believe I am actually here, in this spot, in this class, at this moment.  Two years ago, I would have never believed I would be doing something like this.  I am amazed that this is my Life". He said "I want to thank you.  I really needed something to get me excited about teaching this class.  I only did it because there was nobody else.  Now I am completely involved and dedicated.  I can't wait to work with you in this next six weeks".  I said "wow, thanks!".  The next day we got our personal six week workout graph.  Based on the fact that I really don't want to lose more than a few pounds, but I DO want to lower my overall body fat before I get the the plastic surgery stage, he set me up with a pretty vigorous program.  Basically, between cardio and strength training, I am working out 2 hours a day, class for 2 hours and working 8 hours a day as well.  My days are really long but I am loving every minute of it!   Its true what they say............exercise is good for the soul.  I have been in a great mood for the last week.  Tomorrow I start week two..............yesterday and today were my days of rest.  Tomorrow back at it early in the morning............................ Hope everyone is doing FANTASTIC!

Kim, Thanks so much. I will not be working at a gym.  I will be working privately and building my own clientele.  I will basically have a membership at all the major gym and whatever gym my client goes to, I will simply meet them there and do their session.  The reason I want to work privately is becasuse I want to work primarily with WLSers, and most of us (WLSers) are too intimidated to ask the 5'11" muscle head jock to train us.  What does he know about being obese?  Or the tiny litlle blond girl with a six pack............she wouldn't understand.  Maybe it's just me, but I am sure that almost every one of us could relate.  If I had found a personal trainer who had WLS and could really UNDERSTAND my nutritional needs, my physical limitations, and my self esteem issues, I would have ABSOLUTELY have hired him/her on the spot.  But, I could not ever find one who even had any knowledge of the mechanics of WLS, or obesity, much less personal experience.  So, in that I found my niche.  And for once in my life I am super duper excited about my career future.  Not so much for the financial aspect but it has been a really long time since I have really LOVED my job.  This one....I will love. Thanks and Take care!

Gualala?  Where is that? I would love to meet you too and CONGRATULATIONS!! on your surgery date.  You are about to recieve the best gift in life you could ever be given.  You will experience a strong sense of freedom in the near future and someday I know you will say to yourself   "now I know what she meant when she said that".  For each of us its different...that freedom...but you will no doubt experience yours and it will be the most amazing feeling you have ever felt.   The surgery is a tool, not a cure, so make sure without fail you promise yourself one thing: Do it right.  Do it forever.   So excited for you.  If you would like my cell phone number feel free to ask.  I am always available and would love to help any way I can. Thanks

Hi Connie, Gualala is 3 hours north of San Francisco. Thanks for your words of encouragement and warning.  I have every intention of making it work. I look forward to understanding the strong sense of freedom you mention. If you'd like to send me your cell phone number in private message, please do.  Thank you for offering.  I'll let you know when we plan to be in the area. ---jan---

Thank you so much.  I still cant believe that not only did i ACTUALLY go through with it but that on top of it all, I am the star student in the class.  My teacher asked me today if I notice him peeking in on me in the fitness room and I said "no, why?" and he said "I have not seen dedication like yours in a long time.  I talked about you alot this week, to colleagues and other students of mine.  I hope you dont mind, but when I see someone being lazy, I tell them 'I have this girl in my training class and she is here because she lost 200 pounds and wants this more than anything.  She is running and boxing and stepping and lifting and sweating and here YOU are....whining and being lazy.  Nobobdy would ever catch HER complaining'."  I explained to him that I am not here because I need to fulfil an academic requirement, or because I need the credits.  I HAVE a degree.  I am here because I am going to DO THIS, NO *****ING, NO CRYING, NO GIVING UP.  If I am told to do 30 sit ups, I will do 40.  That's just how its gonna be.  I am in control of my body now.  Not the other way around, and I am making it count.  Period. He laughed and said "I love it.  You make me want to hit the gym right this second".... I laughed and said "I guess that will make me a good trainer, right?" Thanks so much! Take care!
