Hi there, I can relate a LOT to your post.  I am just a hair under 3 years out.  I, too, admire your honesty.  Good job!  I don't have Bi Polar disorder, but I do suffer from depression.  I separated from my husband about 6 months after surgery, and I too used drinking to cope.  Where that landed me was becoming a severe alcoholic.  Everyone here has had good advice as far as your eating and getting back on track, but no one has addressed the alcohol issue-- that is why I am posting.  Antibuse will make you violently ill if you drink while taking it-- but once you stop taking it, what is there to keep you from drinking?  I believe that you need to address this problem FIRST.  (this is just MY opinion).  Have you taken an honest look at it?  Do you believe that you have a drinking problem?  It will only get worse, not ever better.  Never.  Trust me, I have been down that road and thank god it didn't get worse than it did before I decided that enough is enough and I need help.  I now attend AA and am on the true road to recovery.  Just  "getting the booze out of the house" is akin to sweeping the problem under the rug- but it's a start.  Good for you. Please keep this in mind as you are getting back on track.  If you believe that you have a problem with alcohol, look in the phone book and contact Alcoholics Anonymous.  We are here to help!  Best wishes to you!!
